I saw this as well. What a bummer. I'm sure Paul will get it all sorted out, though.Originally posted by Ben Staad View PostPlease check your email for a note from Paul in regards to a printing issue with Almost Ruth. It appears that in some copies the back end paper wasn't glued down correctly.

Congrats. The book looks great and Mr. Jones is becoming a must read for me as well.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the story and wish you luck on purchasing a copy down the read.
The story selected resonated with me and was moving. The setting was great and gave the readers mind something to play with. The rolling out of the story - exploring loss & trauma - and then laying out a tale of what can happen to a person trying to process, make sense, and deal with this loss and trauma, was just well done.
Spoiler!
I really felt the act of minimizing oneself, disappearing to please, and a little of the unknown (where did the dad go?), was a thoughtful approach to a challenging childhood.

I did read the Musolino story and I really enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for carnival/circus-set stories, so I was already predisposed to liking it from the outset. The tale is very dark, however I don't think I'd have an issue with reading an entire collection of such works. My preferred approach to reading short story collections is to take them in through small sips rather than large gulps, so that probably plays into this as well. I can see how one could struggle to just plow through the collection as they would a novel.
I've begun to regret not grabbing the title when I ordered the other Earthling books. At this point, I'm just hoping it holds out until after the first of the month so I can make sure Thunderstorm doesn't have anything up their sleeve I absolutely must have before finally pulling the trigger. Knowing my luck, Thunderstorm won't have anything that piques my interest and I'll go to the Earthling website only to find out the Musolino book has sold out in the meantime!
I'll just have to keep those fingers crossed!

Based on early reviews the Dalia story is pretty entertaining. Did you read the Musolino story shared on Earthling's site? Curious what others thought of it.
Personally I enjoyed the read a lot but do wonder if I can read a whole book of intense stories.

I'm glad I came down off the fence because the little copies that were left (only a little over 30, per the newsletter) sold out super fast. I also took the opportunity to pick up a copy of Mia Dalia's A Song for the End of the World. I was this close to picking up the Musolino title as well, but decided to hold off due to budgetary concerns. Hoping some money will free up soon and I can pick it up before it sells out.

FOMO was strong for me on this one. I already have this book in a few different formats but I wanted it for the Fracassi shelf.

Honestly, because of it's quasi-cozy subject matter it didn't feel like a title I absolutely had to have in a collectible edition, which is the barometer I've tried to make my firm red-line of late, but I guess FOMO and a side-eye from my Fracassi shelf got the best of me this morning. I'm glad I was able to snag a copy.

Yes, I ordered a copy as well. I've held off on ordering the trade edition in hope that an LE would be produced at some point and am very happy Earthling came through as I'm trying to avoid multiple copies of the same book in my library. Also very cool that it will have extras. Always love when LE books include that sort of thing as it makes them extra special IMO.Originally posted by Ben Staad View PostAnyone else picking up matching numbers today for the Fracassi title?
