SM and Todd, can't blame you, I know how tough months with more-opportunities-than-budget are. But that said, don't be like me and experience my regret: BORN... is a seminal title (for the Matheson fan, certainly, but I'd argue that Matheson's work, and this debut, had a tremendous impact on the genre and those who followed, e.g. King) in a fantastic reprint package with a relatively low 500-copy limitation. Anecdotally, I sure wish I would’ve snagged an Artist of PSYCHO. Yes, I have the signed and numbered Gauntlet edition and don’t have shelf room for multiple variants of the same book, which is why at the time I skipped it, but, damn, I’ve always regretted it, and it’s only getting worse. Lansdale introduction, *incredible* dustjacket art (with original 1st on the reverse), and I like the interior art. And it’s Bloch. Of course, it’s not one of those Suntup titles that has stumbled in value on the secondary…$225+ these days. So if the budget does somehow allow, do yourself a favor and avoid my Bloch regret.

Everything you said is exactly the reason why I'm trying to figure out how to squeeze this title into the budget. I do have this nagging feeling that not picking it up will end up in some of that regret you discuss. Ron, I share your excitement, though I haven't pulled the trigger yet. As a fellow Matheson enthusiast, I really want this book, but so far in January we've had Best of Weird Tales: The 1920s at $225, Shadowland by Straub at $295--both of which I purchased--an upcoming, unannounced lettered from Thunderstorm at $300+, Hive by Curran was announced today by Weird House and I was hoping to get this one but looks unlikely, and, finally, this title. I want it all, but something's gotta give. Hive is an easier pass, but still leaves me with around $1000+ of books in January alone. And this a little over three weeks past Christmas. Brutal.

I will say that the lettered Born of... is now a grail of mine. I doubt I'll ever be able to snag one, but how I'd like that on the shelf.

I am also very surprised--yet happy as it helps give me to more time to think--that it hasn't sold out yet. It seems like maybe a little softening of the market is happening because I'd think that this type of genre title from a widely-known and celebrated author produced by a press like Suntup would sell out in 24 hours easy. Yet there are still like a third of the copies available. Maybe everybody's feeling the January pinch like I am.

I could not echo these sentiments more. I'd love a copy of this book but have yet to pull the trigger due to already feeling like a sailor on a spending spree this month. I was kind of hoping that it would sell out quickly before my fomo takes over. Guess we'll see if I can talk myself into it.

I'm kinda hoping that Camelot will have some extra copies available and I can put off the purchase until shipping. Suntup estimates Winter 2025/2026 so that would give me time to scrape the pennies together.

I think it's what you said - there are a lot of desirable books out right after the holidays, and people can't buy everything! I did go for the AE of the Matheson book, and Shadowland.

The 100 pages of extra content showcasing the book's development and Matheson's growth is a uniquely insightful addition, it takes his landmark debut volume to a whole new level, and I couldn't be more excited. Even the art's fairly good. Can’t wait to have this in hand…as a Matheson enthusiast, I’m not sure I’ve ever anticipated a Suntup arrival more.

Yep. It's a gorgeous looking book. Typically that style of artwork is not my preference however, for this edition, I like it a lot.

My guess is that it will sell out with a decent quickness, given its lower 500-copy limitation.

'Course, as always, there's no telling these days what will ignite a rapid sellout, though at this point, an hour in, it is nearly 50% sold out.

Yeah, I got home and looked at them more closely and there wasn't a darn thing wrong with any of the books that I received. If Paul truly received these back as returns, then I feel bad for him as both the books and slipcases were perfect in my estimation. His loss is my gain as I'm now even more over the moon with this purchase, essentially three new AGEs for the price of one.

Just received my Suntup "Scratch & Dent" sale items. Didn't notice any defects when eyeballing the items but will have to look more closely once I get home from work. Pretty impressed by how quickly these packages arrived.

Anyone make a purchase from Suntup's "Scratch & Dent" sale today? I couldn't resist at those prices and snagged a few: Ahlborn's "If You See Her", Anson's Amityville Horror", & Hinton's "The Outsiders". Eyed each of them when they were released, but the pricepoints kept me from pulling the trigger. Was able to purchase all three of these for essentially the price that one of them would have cost new.

I picked up "Born of Man and Woman" with the sale. It might have been a foolish purchase because I believe that January is the full collection for Born of Man and Woman, but I couldn't resist getting such a nice looking publication for a reduced price.

As for the quarterly hints, if we're going with the obvious choices:
January is either Born of Man and Woman or The Lottery and Other Stories
February is Treasure Island
March is One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
