I'm new to the forum and just learning some of the history with the Doubleday Years series. Apparently the initial plan (not sure if it was official from CD or inferred by readers) was to print a new volume every 6 months, but now a few years on, this hasn't happened. Is there a current plan/schedule, or is it just fit in as CD can, dictated by the full publishing logistical environment etc.?

A new update (with a new photo!) about 'SALEM'S LOT will be going out today to those who preordered from us!

The remarques for the portfolios look awesome. Makes me wish I could have afforded to get one for mine. Congrats to those who did get one!

Well.....I must say I was disappointed with his Carrie remarque for my AE.
    Glad it's remarked, but still....

Of course I did go for a 'Salem's Lot remarque as well....

Since I know a few folks are waiting on their remarqued CARRIE Artwork Portfolios, I thought I'd ask Glenn to scan in a few samples for me to post, so you can see what he's been up to with these. Given the little time left for shipping this month and the pallets of books Dan is trying to get shipped, I suspect the rest of the portfolios won't ship until January even if Glenn finished tomorrow, but I think they'll definitely be worth the wait!

    Here are a few samples:

I like the idea of different colors for the slipcases/traycases for each book. While I think that the red traycase for Carrie is beautiful, I don't know if I'd want the same for all the books. Really looking forward to seeing what is done for the rest of the series.

In relation to 'Salem's Lot, will the slip and tray cases match the ones for Carrie? A uniform design for all six books, along with a slipcase for the art work, would look great as a set.
Uniform designs, not uniform colors. The colors will be picked out to match the books. As important as it is for them to look good as a set, it's still very important that they look good as individual books. They will look great on the shelf next to each other for sure.

While not "fancy fancy," lots of stores make and sell pre-fab frames. I've purchased some from Michaels that make my Doctor Who prints from Oktopolis look pretty sharp, and some lower priced plastic frames for some other artwork that I have on the walls. You can always rotate which prints you're displaying (this is Carrie season; it's now The Shining Season; etc.)

Now here's an idea that sounds really cool - but like you said, PRICEY.

But at the same time, the art is just too beautiful to keep tucked away hidden in a slipcase although I fully support that approach as well. I don't know. We have several years I'd guess to kick around all sorts of ideas before it comes to finalization. Maybe even some type of album that could be housed inside of a slipcase so that you could pull it out and thumb through the art like a photo album so to speak. That sounds pretty pricy also but I'd be willing to invest in something like that. Better you than me Brian to tackle that issue

One other thought on the folders: we produced extras to be safe and will continue doing so for the rest of this set. I ordered more than we SHOULD need. So, if when the time comes that you go to put your set in the slipcase (if you've bought all of them, of course, and the slipcase!) and you discover a problem with one of your folders, we SHOULD have a replacement for you to get it back to mint. And I do think the idea I have for this slipcase will protect them VERY nicely and look GREAT on your shelf. That's down the road, but that's my plan, at least.
