Good lord, that Suntup edition of BORN OF… was even better than I’d envisioned -- I snagged a copy immediately. The 100 pages of extra content showcasing the book's development and Matheson's growth is a uniquely insightful addition, it takes his landmark debut volume to a whole new level, and I couldn't be more excited. Even the art's fairly good. Can’t wait to have this in hand…as a Matheson enthusiast, I’m not sure I’ve ever anticipated a Suntup arrival more.

Yeah, I got home and looked at them more closely and there wasn't a darn thing wrong with any of the books that I received. If Paul truly received these back as returns, then I feel bad for him as both the books and slipcases were perfect in my estimation. His loss is my gain as I'm now even more over the moon with this purchase, essentially three new AGEs for the price of one.Originally posted by Ben Staad View PostWoohoo. That is a common statement from other Suntup S & D purchasers.

I couldn't resist at those prices and snagged a few: Ahlborn's "If You See Her", Anson's Amityville Horror", & Hinton's "The Outsiders". Eyed each of them when they were released, but the pricepoints kept me from pulling the trigger. Was able to purchase all three of these for essentially the price that one of them would have cost new.

I picked up "Born of Man and Woman" with the sale. It might have been a foolish purchase because I believe that January is the full collection for Born of Man and Woman, but I couldn't resist getting such a nice looking publication for a reduced price.
As for the quarterly hints, if we're going with the obvious choices:
January is either Born of Man and Woman or The Lottery and Other Stories
February is Treasure Island
March is One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Nope but congrats to you on picking up some wants.

No. I was hoping to see an AE of Bloch’s PSYCHO which I would’ve snagged in a heartbeat, but no luck. Couldn’t budget the Numbered, especially since it was a PC. Tempted by a few others, but ultimately passed on it all.Originally posted by sholloman81 View PostAnyone make a purchase from Suntup's "Scratch & Dent" sale today? I didn’t even think of that — now *that* would be incredible, the publishing event of the year for me! God, I hope that’s what it turns out to be…Originally posted by Sock Monkey View Post
but I thought it could be the entirety of Matheson's debut collection Born of Man and Woman.

Some solid guesses.Originally posted by Boggle Champion View Post
March is definitely One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
I'm thinking January is The Lottery and Other Stories by Shirley Jackson, a book I just pulled off my shelf to read this weekend!
February no idea, but none are signed by the author, which makes me think a non-living writer. Maybe Mr. X by Peter Straub? Something with X in the title.
I'd love Cuckoo's Nest, but when I read the hint for March, I thought of Birdy by William Wharton.
Your guess for January is solid, but I thought it could be the entirety of Matheson's debut collection Born of Man and Woman. Either would be nice.
I'm with you as far as February. I have no clue. Treasure Island? To be honest, I'd much rather have Mr. X by Straub.

Hope you're correct about March as I'd actually like a copy of Cuckoo's Nest as I've never read it but loved the movie.Originally posted by Boggle Champion View Post

March is definitely One Flew Over the Cuckoo's NestOriginally posted by sholloman81 View PostAny guesses for Next Quarter's Books?
Jan- We’ve published this title before, and yet we have never published this book. At least, not in its entirety.
Feb- Where the roman numeral for ten might mark the spot. Maybe Vandermeer's Area X Books?
Mar- Join us for a solitary flight above an aviary asylum

I bought it. I have the Dark Harvest S/L, so I don't think I want to spend $750 on the Numbered, even if any are available tomorrow.Originally posted by Sock Monkey View PostSo today's announcement is Dan Simmon's Carrion Comfort. This is a book that I'm really jazzed about and was pretty dead set on getting a copy, but the lower tier is an Artist Edition which is not signed by Simmons and I'm unsure if I want to pull the trigger on another $200 book (Dude, these prices...) and not have it signed by Simmons.
Where is everybody else landing on this one?
The prices are getting up there. I know Paul said he's aiming to produce some cheaper books with upcoming releases, so that's good.
With the upcoming Centipede Press books (latest Dune book, Shadowland, etc), I've been trying not to buy everything

I'm passing. I cannot purchase a $200 book that isn't signed by the author. There is one on ABE for $196 from Dark Harvest right now though. Signed by the author but a PC copy.
