Laimo - I’m assuming that’s referring to Michael Laimo.

Didn’t think he was publishing anymore.

It’s been at least 15 years since I’d heard about anything new from him.

Yes, you are correct. I hadn't heard that name in forever as well and was quite surprised to see his new(ish) novel as one of the July pre-orders.

Didn't receive a shipping notice but I just received my copies of The Underwood & Harvesting the Nightmare Fields. Looks like Paul's freight arrived on time! Each of these books looks great and I can't wait to check them out more closely once I am done at work.

Did Thunderstorm put anything up for sale in the month of July? I see pre-orders being mentioned here, but I'm not a clubhouse member and don't remember seeing any announcement emails.

I don't believe Paul has moved the July books to the main page yet. I believe he was out of town at Killercon. My guess is that you will most likely see them posted this week. I know that he is not posting August's new pre-orders until sometime tomorrow.

              Okay thanks for the update!

Anyone grabbing the August pre-orders announced today? TBH- While I love the author, I haven't read either of these books and the descriptions and Goodreads reviews definitely don't grab me; so, I'm a bit torn. Has anyone read either of them and would they recommend them? Someone push me off the fence...

I'm passing. Both books sound promising, but I don't know if I need them in expensive limited edition editions. The announcement retroactively made passing on the last Fracassi easier because I just don't think I'd want to drop $375 for each of these. These feelings might be stemming from the fact I've been doing a lot of rethinking of my book purchases lately as the price points from all publishers has made it harder and harder to keep up and take chances and subsequently some of the fun in collecting for me has dissipated a bit. I'm happy for anybody excited about the announcement, though, and I have it sells really well.

Keep in mind that $375 price was for the Lettered each...the Numbered editions were $250 for the duo set, or effectively $125 each.

I've read DON'T LET THEM GET YOU DOWN in its earlier Zagava tpb, but haven't read THE EGOTIST. While I've been a completist thus far of Fracassi's limiteds, I think I'm likely going to pass on these two. DON'T LET THEM... was a good read -- and is one of jeffingoff 's favorite books, so there's that -- but it isn't the kind of book that I need a deluxe limited of, and THE EGOTIST is in a similar literary vein, so, again, it doesn't really have a spot in my already max-capacity library. Maybe back a few years when I had a more completist inclination and a bit more empty shelf room, I would've gone for this set, but for better or worse, today's a different day.

You just hit the nail on the head in terms of my feelings on this set. The LE's are fairly priced and in line with normal Thunderstorm prices, but the books just don't interest me much (in an LE state) beyond wanting to be a Fracassi completist. If I had infinite money & space, it might be different but I'm trying to be a little choosier lately. May continue debating it until the pre-order date expires on the 2nd but honestly think I am going to pass on the set. I'm sure it will still do well for Paul considering the last Fracassi book he offered sold extremely well for him.

I already own the books in other forms and I'm just not buying multiple editions these days.

I grabbed them because I have pretty much every black voltage and I think they would be pretty hard to find afterwards.

                            Great reason and point. Congrats!
