I talked to one of our Lifetimers who told me he spent the first $10,000 he "saved" thanks to our membership on memberships to other presses that never came close to "earning out." Sometimes he didn't even get ONE book from them. Often, he only got one or two. I felt pretty bad when I heard that. I mean, he knew exactly what he was getting into with each membership, but it still sucks.

Being a lifetime member with multiple other presses (not Cemetery Dance, except some book lines of CD) I can speak to the truth of that - with some I get one book a year and will never get my money back, exceptions are Bad Moon Books and PS Publishing. I love both of them and the care they give to the lifetime members. But Cemetery Dance has been the class act when it comes to lifetime members, you guys could have dropped lifetime members or started multiple imprints and locked out lifetime members, or as another recent small press you could have changed your publishing name and dropped all your lifetime members. Cemetery Dance had some slow years and I would assume monetary problems (but I don't know), and you never once cut out your lifetime members. Kudos to Cemetery Dance!

Yeah, it was real. And real expensive, but it would have been absolutely worth it!
