Thanks, very kind of you to say that. While I do sprinkle a few new releases in, you’ve captured what my interest and intent is with my daily Showcase Book. In this era of a seeming deluge of new Indie and micro-press trade-paperback horror being marketed and lauded on Twitter, I think it’s particularly important now to give a nod to all that came before, both original and reprint, so their existence and importance is at least noted.Originally posted by bookworm 1 View PostI have to admit that when scrolling through Twitter I love when your tweets come up. You and a few others are doing a great job of keeping the past alive for dark and pulp fiction.

Example: that above 1971 novel by Lieberman is one of the earliest modern horror novels, preceding the typically cited trio of first appearances of Levin’s ROSEMARY’S BABY, Tryon’s THE OTHER, and King’s CARRIE as books which created the modern Horror genre and publishing brand...yet it’s all but forgotten and never cited as the groundbreaking book it was. Hard to sum all that up in a tweet, but I figure at the very least I’ve made others aware that the showcased book exists and that the past holds some real gems.

I’ve always liked the look of the COVER lettered edition. I have to admit I have never read anything by Laymon.
