Probably one of the reasons why the signed copies are all gone! I love extravagant books and all, but, man, kinda feeling like we need the pendulum to swing back a little to some more reasonably priced editions.
Yes, I've never read anything by her that I know of, but $40 for 800+ pages is a heckuva deal.

I bought the Sheckley book too (Mindswap) and it was a good read. I probably read it back in the '80s or early '90s, and I didn't remember a thing about it. I can see why some people wouldn't like it, but I found it a fun piece of social commentary.

Nice to hear a positive review for the new Sheckley. My enthusiasm dampened a little when I start seeing some so-so reviews about it.

I read a lot of his short stories back in the day, and I always liked his sense of humor.

This pic shows a box of books that were packed up in 1989 and left unopened at my parents' house until 2019, when I found it again.

I took a few of them home with me, including the Sheckley Omnibus, but most went to the local charity store - they weigh too much to bring back to the US these days.

I Love Eugene Izzi. He wrote some great heist novels and died a fittingly mysterious death!

Yep, I've read all sorts of theories -- suicide, publicity stunt or acting out a plot point gone wrong, loanshark/mafia payback, etc. -- but I suppose it'll always remain a very intriguing (if tragic) mystery.

Yeah, I read all his books back in the day. I'm sure I still have some in the attic. He was good!

Just finishing up my reading of Centipede's outstanding edition of Feesters In The Lake by Bob Leman....and have found the signature page at the end of the book. It didn't impress upon me at all as I started reading as the beginning of the book is biographical information and introductions that I planned to return to after the stories. Very odd, were they all printed this way?

All Centipede titles have the signature page (if it has one) at the rear of the book.

Pretty excited about Centipede's newsletter today! Three new Woolrich books and Carl Jacobi in the Library of Weird Fiction up for order! The Jacobi Masters of the Weird Tale volume has been priced out of my budget so I'm very happy to add that to the collection. The new Woolrich books also remind me I need to start tracking down the others in I missed in the series as I only started buying them with the publication of Waltz into Darkness and Walls That Hear You. I've held off just because dropping $150-175 on the low end for the older Woolrich books stings a bit, but I think I just need to bite the bullet and start the (slow) hunting process. Anyways, pretty expensive Sunday, but I'm looking forward to cracking these bad boys open.

I picked up the Woolrich set, too, and I’m looking forward to adding it to my full run of the Woolridge series. I also picked up the PKD set last week, so it’s been an expensive, though very satisfying, a couple of weeks.

I ordered a copy of the Jacobi book also.

I will probably pick up the Masters of Science Fiction offer next week.

I’m really looking forward to the Terry Lamsley collection. I think Jerad said in the past it was going to be a two book volume?

I have been looking forward to this Lamsley collection since it was first mentioned, and of course it hits when I'm out of work...Hoping copies last until I find a new job.

That's what I recall as well, that it's going to be a two-volume Lamsley collection.

Fortunately, I have all his collections, and there will be no new material, so I can let this one go, even if my affection for Lamsley's work is crying out for me to pick up a copy. Going to hold strong on this one, though. Same for Jacobi...I have the Jacobi MotWT volume, so this LoWF reprint (?) isn't a necessity, either.
