I received my Weird Tales volume today and it is another fantastic production from Jerad at Centipede. Honestly, I don't think there is another publisher that is aligned with both my tastes in titles published and production aesthetics as Centipede. I don't know if I've ever been disappointed with one of their editions.

Got my shipping notice for Shadowland. I already have the signed Gauntlet edition--picked it up a few years back from like $50, which, in my opinion, is stupid cheap--but I'm looking forward to adding this to the shelf. I am going to need to revisit this book very soon.

I have the same Gauntlet S/L edition of SHADOWLAND, so skipped this new Centipede edition. Same reason I skipped their GHOST STORY, I had the Hill House S/L. I'll occasionally upgrade for favorite authors, but while I like Straub (and especially GHOST STORY), he isn't in that top tier that demands upgrades and/or multiple variants of the same title. That said, Jerad of course did a fantastic job on both and they look great, especially SHADOWLAND.

That IS cheap! The price has gone up a bit in recent years for that one.

Centipede's edition looks to be THE edition, so I couldn't resist.

Anybody pick-up Bad Brains this weekend? Am on the fence big time. Really enjoyed Centipede's version of The Cipher, but the description for this one just doesn't seem to grab me. Might revisit picking it up later if copies are still available.

I passed as well. I remember not really digging Koja's stuff back in the Abyss pb days (actually, there was a lot of Abyss that didn't do it for me back in the day, but I digress), but I did pick up THE CIPHER because it's grown such a reputation over the years/decades that I figured maybe I missed something the first time around and it was likely due for a reread. But I'm not committed enough to that reevaluation to pick up another work by her that hasn't enjoyed that same growth of reputation.

Gotta save my money for ALAS, BABYLON.

Shadowland arrived this morning and, to be completely honest, I might actually like this presentation more than the limited of Ghost Story. The boards on the book are just gorgeous and I really like the interior art and design. The only drawback, and the area that the Ghost Story limited trumps this one, is the lack of an authentic Straub signature. It's a very minor quibble for what is a stupendous edition. As a Straub fan, I'm happy to see his work continue to get honored in this fashion.
