Yikes! $250 for Treasure Island? It's a public domain book.

I am stepping away from this thread and most others. I find that my comments aren't constructive or positive for collectors.

Go forth and enjoy the hobby. Collecting was a joy and reprieve from the every day worries in my life for the last 17 years or so.

I wouldn't be so concerned about offending sensitivities, as you know we're all a pretty hearty bunch around here. I've been involved in collecting for more than twice as long as you (late '80s), and a $250 limited book -- public domain or not -- would have been, for the most part, inconceivable in the small press until a decade or so ago when industry price standards began to progressively stretch upward, normalizing three-figure price points. For most of us, even a decade on from that shift, $250 is still a leap.

I get not wanting to post any negativity- I keep myself from posting things like that A LOT, lol- but I think that most here would agree that we don't need, or want, to lose one of the handful of people who call the board home, or see them fall silent. I hope you'll reconsider...differing opinions keep conversations going.

Others have far more eloquently responded to this, but I wanted to chime in as well. While I'll clearly respect the decision to step away, I don't find your posts all that negative. While you might not jump on board the bandwagon of excitement around certain announcements, I don't find any malice or anything of the sort in your comments. Frankly, I had the same thought about TREASURE ISLAND.I'd hate to lose a forum member just because they can't be a cheerleader for everything that comes down the pike. Yes, we're a laid-back crew, but contrary to what the rest of the internet (or the whole world, it feels like sometimes), differences of opinion are not a bad thing. It's how we chose to voice those differences where things go astray. And I've always found your comments to be measured and appropriate. Hope you stick around.

I understand completely. I have stopped posting except very rarely because of the same feelings. Too many over priced books in my opinion and while I still do occasionally purchase a limited edition from time to time I have completely stopped purchasing from Suntup and a few others.
With the way things are in the world right now I've discovered that money towards doing something to help is where my focus needs to be at this time.
I enjoy reading everyone's posts daily here. And I still have a love for reading and seeing everyone here get so excited about new limited editions. Anyway that's my piece and why I have been absent for so long.
