I do own one book from Midworld - Blacktop Wasteland, and while there's nothing truly special about that edition other than it being signed and numbered, the price was $75 (if I remember right.) I know that that was one of their earlier publications, but nothing about it was on par with Sub Press (or Centipede like someone said above.) Sub Press is getting very expensive and rarely do their books come with slipcases anymore. Centipede is definitely priced for their quality; other than them, SST is probably my next favorite publisher based on price and quality.
Man, this sums up a lot of my own feelings about the various presses right now. I also like to add Lividian to the list. Though their books are over the $100 mark, for me, at least they all come with a slipcase making the bump in price worthwhile. Admittedly, I haven't purchased a lot from them--dipped out early on the Hill books; I like Bentley Little, but not more than a book a year; and the rest sometimes just hit at the wrong moment for the budget--but I'm always happy with the price paid when I do get one in hand. SST is criminally underrated, in my opinion.

Passing on THE KEEP as well. Too much scratch for what it is. Like most books these days, unfortunately.

I'm not trying to be a smartass, I've wanted an edition of The Keep forever. But the $175 ask finally drove me to spend $9 on a Berkley Books 1982 paperback edition.

Definitely passing on the keep. I'll try midworld one day.

I will beat that dead horse because I'm in the same boat as you. Those price points are saved for must haves for me these days. I still reach once in awhile but it's not often these days.

I've found myself buying more trade editions, used editions, and similar these days.

I'm keeping my signed trade 1st HC. I would have been interested in upgrade, but that $175 price tag for just four interior illustrations (plus original dj and all the other production bells and whistles) just didn't work for me, not with the Fine/Fine signed trade 1st already on my shelf. I'm sure it'll be a lovely volume, though.

I really like the illustrations in this edition. I've always enjoyed Palumbo's work.

I don't remember seeing the BP edition at the time, but their godawful proofreading always annoys me when I read any of their books. I see that one for sale at $144 right now, which is not bad.

Actually, I'm one who doesn't need the entire Adversary Cycle set but would like a nice deluxe limited HC of just THE KEEP. Other than THE KEEP, I have the cycle in Dark Harvest HCs, so I'm set in that regard, but Dark Harvest never did THE KEEP, and while it's part of the cycle I've always kind of thought of it as a standalone in many regards, so a standalone limited sounds great to me. I just don't know, at this price and presumed non-Suntup quality and sans slipcase (and general limitation is kind of a non-issue since the BP edition also exists as a limited), if this Midworld edition is the one I've been waiting for. I may wait for it to hit the secondary market via eBay, but the problem there, as one who has a Watch assigned to a few of their titles, seems to be a dearth of such copies...either those who buy Midworld hang on to their copies or sales at the publisher are slower than I might imagine. If I didn't already have a Fine/Fine signed 1st HC of THE KEEP, I might be more inclined to throw caution to the wind and pick up a copy, but with just four art pieces in it, I'll have to wait and see what else this new edition offers me that I don't already have.

I mean, I'd like to be wrong and for the edition to be amazing, and hopefully it will, but the book has quite a bit to live up to considering the elevated price point and the production details divulged so far.

Also, is there significant demand for this title? I know that it has a solid reputation and Wilson is a legend in the field, but isn't Borderlands still selling sets of the Adversary Cycle? I'm not be snide or anything, but genuinely curious.
Personally, I don't think it needs another edition; however, I'm sure that there may be people who only want that book and not the whole BP Anniversary Cycle set, but I can't imagine that being too many people. Personally, while the BP Anniversary Cycle set isn't particularly lavish, I'm very happy to have it and that uniform set of books!
