Don't know what my last purchase from Gauntlet was (I know I bought the Rambo trilogy but my matching number request was ignored which I still cant tell if I'm mad or not about that.)
Don't even get me started on the Southern Reach Trilogy as I am still sore about that one and the way it was handled!

There may or may not have been other issues that I can no longer recall, but even if not, those two issues were disappointing to such a degree that I returned the set (and it wasn't cheap, which also entered the equation) to Camelot.

Thanks for the info, Ron. As I said, I was kicking myself for missing out on that set, but the amount of complaints that I remember reading about got me over that pain real quick, lol. I wonder if Barry is reading this thread, because today's newsletter went in-depth on why he does not want customers to pay by CC. I get his point of view, but, as a consumer, I feel that any retailer is lucky to be getting my money, and I don't really care if they are particular HOW they get it...I'll pay how I want, or I'll shop elsewhere. The curmudgeon who owns the comic store I used to shop at had a fit one day when he walked by the register and saw I had been paying with a Discover card, because they charged him some kind of fee related to my reward points. He said "Starting next week, I'm not accepting Discover!" I said "Starting next week, I shop online." He backed off, but we had another blowout a few years later, and I did take my business online...Barry, if you make shopping a hassle for the people who continue to buy your substandard product, they'll eventually either go elsewhere, or stop patronizing you altogether.

A shame, as I had been really excited about that set.
I hadn't heard any issues about the Beardless Warriors set. I remember being really excited about when it was announced and was saving up to get the lettered edition, which was announced at $500 and then the price was upped to $1000 after it had been open for preorders for a bit. I don't recall if the reason for this was disclosed, but I remember the move really turning me off on the press.

That was a set that I kicked myself for missing, but I could not bring myself to patronize Gauntlet again by that point. Can I ask what the issues were?

That website was an outdated dinosaur decades ago, and doesn't seem to have been upgraded at all since then. Sorry your wife had such a frustrating experience...

I'd like to hear the full story. I've certainly had my share of similar bad experiences, so I sympathize.

That is a bummer. Some of these small press folks have very odd business practices.

I'm not interested in the Bradbury book, but I did purchase both F. Paul Wilson books last year and they came out very well, even the cover art was a bit better than a normal Gauntlet edition. For me, it has to be the right book to even consider Gauntlet. Since the F. Paul Wilson books are his last books ever, they were must have for me!

I'm also done with Gauntlet, and I have to say that reading early versions of stories doesn't interest me. I doubt that Ray Bradbury would have been interested in seeing these versions in print, and it seems like an easy money grab for Gauntlet.
