Haven't received my copy yet, either. I did get a shipping notification maybe two weeks or so back, but nothing so far. I also accidently deleted the email when I was purging my inbox and now can't locate it. Hopefully it turns up soon.

It's only in the portfolio.Originally posted by Ben Eads View PostI got my gift edition of The Stand in the mail today!
I looked through and can't find the art page of Randall Flagg with the devil horns. Does that not come with the gift edition?
Any help/insight would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks!

Yesterday I finally received my Shipping Notice for the GE of THE STAND -- I was a bit down in the shipping queue, so had to exercise patience while seeing all the beautiful shots of it from others. Last I read, they're going to still be shipping well into June, so I can't complain too much!Twitter: https://twitter.com/ron_clinton

Congrats! Still anxiously awaiting my shipping notice, but as you mention, I know that they will be shipping through June so I will just have to wait a bit longer. I did get my shipping notice for Never Flinch from CD this week so that will have to hold me over!Originally posted by RonClinton View PostYesterday I finally received my Shipping Notice for the GE of THE STAND -- I was a bit down in the shipping queue, so had to exercise patience while seeing all the beautiful shots of it from others. My copy arrived yesterday, and while I'm glad to have it on the shelf, I understand now the criticism I've seen about the paper stock used in this project. It reminds me of the ultra-thin onion-paper-like stock used by Library of America, which comes as a disappointment. I get that they had to switch from the original plan (?) of two volumes (or, at least, I remember seeing an ARC in two volumes) and so reduce the paper-stock weight -- and hike the print run from 3000 to 4000 -- to get the price per unit down, but altering the fundamental tactile experience for the reader really undermines the idea of this being a deluxe edition. I hope that PET SEMETARY, with its more traditional page-length, will harken a return to the much better production qualities seen in CD's earlier King Doubleday reprints.Originally posted by RonClinton View PostYesterday I finally received my Shipping Notice for the GE of THE STAND -- I was a bit down in the shipping queue, so had to exercise patience while seeing all the beautiful shots of it from others. Ugh, that is a bit disappointing to hear. Still haven't received my copy; so, I'll brace myself, but I can't lie that I'm disappointed to hear about the paper stock as I also don't imagine that it will hold up well in the long run, and these books should be built to last! As you mention, hopefully, Pet Cemetery will be a return to form but I'm hot holding my breath.Originally posted by RonClinton View Post

I was underwhelmed by this book. The original plan was a single volume. A few years ago, after multiple promised delivery dates had passed, they announced they had upgraded to two volumes. The ARCs seen matched that promise. Then the books arrive with extra thin paper and a single volume not much larger than previous Doubleday books. I genuinely do not care enough to be upset about it at this point. I have no issue with long wait times, but the complete lack of accurate information about what they are doing with books I bought years ago is a bridge too far.Originally posted by RonClinton View Post

I agree with you regarding the paper stock. It is incredibly thin, almost shockingly so. It is definitely not what I would expect from a limited edition. I'm not a big King fan, so I didn't have a lot of expectations for this edition, but I can see if one is a big King fan, how this could be very disappointing, especially considering the wait time. While overall it is a nicer edition, I wound up selling my copy.Originally posted by RonClinton View Post

I’m toying with that idea, as I also have a Fine/Fine 1st HC in a Collector aftermarket windowed traycase. This CD edition was envisioned as a very nice complement to it, but now it just seems pallid in comparison. Problem is, the aftermarket is already a bit glutted by them, and I don’t feel like taking a bath on it after waiting six years for it. So I’ll probably just hold onto it and call it a lesson learned.Originally posted by Sock Monkey View Post

Yeah, there is a TON on the aftermarket right now. I sold mine for $250, which is more than fine by me. Might be worthwhile holding on to it for a while to see how things pan out. It's crazy what some of the earlier Doubleday Years titles are going for now.Originally posted by RonClinton View PostI’m toying with that idea, as I also have a Fine/Fine 1st HC in a Collector aftermarket windowed traycase. I'm letting my extras sit on the shelf for now. Considering how long ago I ordered them, it's not like I miss having the money.Originally posted by Sock Monkey View Post

I rarely check the CD Production Updates page but stopped by today. Looks like the 'promised' two volume upgrade for the stand was only for the ARCs. Assuming the photo they posted is accurate The Artist Edition will have similar paper to the Gift Edition.
