I love open-ended conclusions for some books AND movies. Obviously if I want to watch something mindless I'd rather have a conclusion, but I like when I am able to use my own imagination to form a conclusion. I would assume the movie of Cell will have more of a defined conclusion, and most likely that will translate better to the screen for that movie

My problem with Cell wasn't so much with the open-ending, but what I felt was a rather lackluster third act. There was a tonal shift that occurred after a character's death that I felt the book couldn't recover from. I thought the actual ending of the book worked fine. I have no problem with open-endings as long as they are pulled off properly.Spoiler! The ending to Shawshank is a good example because it didn't matter so much if Red and Andy did meet up as it did that Red's outlook on life had changed due to his relationship with Andy. Though I don't think there is a single person who read Shawshank and didn't decide that the two friends met up. The movie version only cemented that resolution.

I fixed it. That said though on a movie / book that old I'm not really sure spoiler tags are necessary.CD Email: [email protected]

I would not have wrapped it with a spoiler since I would everyone had read the story and watched the movie by now. With that saidSpoiler!I think the main thing about the movie ending is that in the book you never know if Red made it out of the country. He is a felon trying to leave the country and is unsure if he will be stopped and arrested. The movie shows you what happened.Originally posted by Sock Monkey View PostSorry guys! Thanks for the fix, Dan! :-)

It was a reaction to someone complaining that I had made a post about Wizard & Glass being one of Roland's mistakes (both the events and the telling of them to his ka-tet). I had been used to the one-click spolier tags on the CD forum. The idea of typing out spoiler tags was...unthinkable!"I'm a vegan. "

LOL! You have my sympathy for sitting through Malibu's Most Wanted. That "comedy" should come with the government health warning "may cause numbness of the brain.""I watched Titanic when I got back home from the hospital, and cried. I knew that my IQ had been damaged."
