I'll let ya know what it's like from the perspective of someone who hasn't read the book as soon as I get a chance to watch it. Hopefully this weekend.

I was pretty let down by it. My biggest concern before the film came out was the cast, but I was actually surprised there, especially with Melissa George. She looked the part more than I ever thought possible.

I agree that it was rushed, though. Very little was established in terms of character. Mattie seemed to be in it hardly at all, as well as her grandfather Max. I also found the first half to be rather slow moving, and it really left out what I thought was the best part of the novel, the way Max Devore had the entire town under his control, and the legal battle being waged over Kyra was way too short and without much drama.

i agree. The whole thing had a kind of slap bang feel. Mick Garris' direction underwhelmed me again. I think the cast were solid, but I didn't buy Matt Frewer and Pierce Brosnan as brothers, laughed out loud at that.

This is now going to be a series on the same channel in the spring. I thought it sucked!
By the way everybody, at long last I'm back. I missed you all.

              Welcome back, Randy!

A series?, you're serious? Something to pass over when channel surfing...

Yeah, I'd rather watch Grimm. And thanks sr! It's good to be back.

I can't believe they would put that crap out and then make it into a series LOL.

I said the same thing Ozmo! I think they're going to ruin a decent piece of fiction making this into a series the way they did with
                    The Dead Zone.

Whenever I decided to watch a King adaptation (feature film, mini-series, or otherwise), I lower my expectations to about Earth's core level. Usually, I'm not too badly disappointed, but I always prefer the written work to the filmed work. Based on the reviews of Bag of Bones, I'll stick with my memories of a favorable reading of the book in late 1998 with the distinct possibility of a re-read when I can catch up with the 3+ shelves of previously unread books I have collecting dust.

Highly Disapointing. They removed too much that I felt was important, I know they need time but it was already 4hrs anyway and there was things they could have cut and did not.
