What in particular do you enjoy in this book? His writing style, story, or is it personal to you in some way?

Since I've seen the book posted to other vendor websites, I'm assuming that it is ok to now mention that the book is "I Was A Teenage Slasher" by Stephen Graham Jones. I know not everyone on the forum enjoys his stuff, but I am a big fan and very excited for this book. Glad I held off picking up a trade copy before this as I don't have the space for dupe books any longer.

Haven't read this book yet; so, I can't speak to this particular story, but in general, I enjoy the author's style/voice; however, you want to put it. He's kind of evolved into his own genre, a bit like Lansdale. You could read a book without knowing the author/title and know if it's by SGJ. I also like how his stuff has a literary feel to it but doesn't feel highfalutin. His story plots are usually pretty fun and show a love on the genre and its' fans. You can tell SGJ would never apologize for being a horror author. Overall, his stuff just seems to work for me.

Just saw that SST will be doing an LE of Robert McCammon's "Stinger". Good timing for them with the Teacup series. I already have the SubPress version; so, unless they have some really cool extras, it will most likely be a pass for me.

Same. It would take something along the lines of an additional related novella, something of significance, for me to be tempted. I don’t have room for multiple variants of the same title, and I’m perfectly content with the Sub Press edition.

I'm of the same mind. I have the Sub Press limiteds of almost all those early McCammon (save The Wolf''s Hour), which I'm happy with. I don't think I need another new edition unless, like Ron says, it has new material. Maybe if they offer a lettered I might be tempted to bite on one of those, but SST has only done one of the single Corbett title they published so that might be long shot. On a side note, I had absolutely no clue that Teacup was based on Stinger. I've seen some promotional images, but haven't watched a trailer or anything. Now I'm a little more motivated to check it out.

I'd like to check out Teacup at some point myself. Stephen King gave it pretty good reviews; so, I'm sure it's not too bad of a watch. Got to admit that I am less enthused to see it after hearing that they are basically just using the general premise of Stinger but are not actually following the plot/characters from the book. Either way, it's cool to see something of McCammon's getting film treatment. Hopefully it will lead to more of his IP being filmed.

My wife and I are watching it right now...tonight we'll start Episode 6 of what I understand are 8 total episodes. Generally speaking, it's okay...as Todd mentions, it's only loosely based on premise of STINGER, and while it started somewhat strong, each episode feels less eerie and compelling and following in well-tread tropes, ala parasitic alien invasion and the black oil in eyes that passes from person to person in the X-Files episode(s), which even my wife -- who is no horror fan -- mentioned was familiar. While I wouldn't dissuade anyone from watching it, I don't know that I'd advocate for it, either. We started it, and it's been interesting enough that we haven't switched away from it, and we plan to finish the final three episodes. However, if there is indeed a Season 2, which apparently hasn't been confirmed, I doubt we'll be back for more.

Gotta agree with Ron here, except the wife and I did give up after 4, I believe. It's not bad at all- just didn't keep us pulled in, and felt a little lightweight in tone and acting than what we generally prefer. I guess we're spoiled: There's just too much "generally good" content out there now, and I'm looking for better than that. Also, it (unreasonably, I admit) irks me that not only did they take a really kick ass, fast-paced novel and completely change everything that made it so, but they also decided to change the name from the pretty damn great "Stinger", to the pretty damn bad "Teacup". Hey, maybe it gets better, but if I'm halfway through and you don't have me- then you don't have me. YMMV.

Really like the cover of Josh Malerman's Pearl that SST is doing. It's goofy but works for me. If I didn't already have CD's version of this book, I would grab this title for sure. No more dupe books!

I'm in for the SST edition. I have CD's version as well, but since this will be part of my ongoing matching numbered set of Malerman titles from SST, this edition will supplant the CD version in my collection and I'll probably sell it off at some point.

Anyone else receive the Secret Advance Preorder Notice that Paul sent out today? Believe it was sent to those who purchased the author's previous title and will be announced to their newsletter subscribers next week. I'm on the fence as I've seen mixed reviews for the book, but it's from an author whom I almost always enjoy. I'll most likely grab a copy but maybe not right away.
