THE FIREMAN by Joe Hill:

No, I like to pick my own books (all of which I read...eventually)...even if I relaxed that a bit, many of their picks just aren't my thing. They're great to pick up the odd signed UK HC 1st (THE FIREMAN, HEX, THE MARTIAN, etc.), but their club isn't for me.

To steer off the beaten path a tad bit more; are any of you guys in the Goldsboro Book of the Month Club? It appears you could get some pretty nice looking books for not a bad price tag at all. Although I'll admit, most of mine would be for collecting purposes only and never read. But again, that'd be nothing new for me as I keep reading copies on hand of what I intend to read.

Thanks, Ron. They also stated that they try to match numbers for future orders as well. Seem like really good folks over there. Now debating whether or not to order since I already have one coming from Waterstones (not signed or numbered) :-/.Originally posted by RonClinton View PostJust had it confirmed by Goldsboro: They say it is numbered.

+2 for me. Banking on that they'll fit the UKs as well. If not, not biggie. I'll pay it forward to some other member in need down the road. Thanks for putting it back up, Brian.

I'm placing the final order for THE FIREMAN slipcase today if anyone wants to get an order in real quick:

Just had it confirmed by Goldsboro: They say it is numbered.Originally posted by RonClinton View PostTypically Goldboro's limited editions are numbered...but, you're right, I don't see that specific indication on the page for the book (though I sure thought I did at the time I ordered it
), so am not clear what the deal is with THE FIREMAN. I sure hope it will be. Tell you what, since I've ordered the thing and did so under the assumption (and, again, I thought it said it) that it was numbered, I'm going to drop them a note. I'll report back when I hear back from them.

Ron. Out of curiosity. How were you able to find out that the edges are red for this edition also? I didn't see it on the info page. Thanks!Originally posted by RonClinton View PostGet it from Goldboro instead...same book, same red-stained page edges, etc....but it's numbered (of 350).

I'm sure Pete means well but I get impatient reading through all the bs before actually getting to the info I'm actually interested in. Just get to the point already, Pete!! LOL.Originally posted by Martin View PostInteresting thoughts. One thing I will say, Pete has me paying much closer attention to his news letters while I wait.

I always forget about Goldsboro. Oh well, not being numbered is no biggie to me and an overseas mate is picking it up so I know it'll be shipped save and sound.Originally posted by slayn666 View PostGoldsboro will also package it such that, if the bombs fall while it's en route, you can die safe in the knowledge that, unlike you, your book will not succumb to nuclear fire.

Interesting thoughts. One thing I will say, Pete has me paying much closer attention to his news letters while I wait.Originally posted by RonClinton View PostOr maybe that's the discrepancy that's creating the delay...originally contracted for 500, then changed to 1500 somewhere along the line, but contractual matters are still not finalized, etc....something like that. Just a guess, though. Usually Pete @ PS is pretty on top of matters, so the fact that the ordering deadline passed his "late May" declaration -- and did so without comments -- may means that something still needs to get ironed out.
