While initially very excited, I've been wavering back and forth since the pricing came out a short while ago, and after a night of hand-wringing, I finally decided this morning to pass, even though it kind of pains me to, as I really wanted this new illustrated edition. But at a whopping $300+ after shipping and monetary conversion to dollars, I just couldn't pull the trigger on it. I have the signed and number UK 1st HC of it -- which I believe preceded the Sub Press S/L ed. by a short while, making it the true 1st limited -- and that one will just have to do. Perhaps -- perhaps! -- if I didn't have that one I could've justified it, but I couldn't justify a $300+ upgrade. Looks like it's now sold out, a number of hours after its offering.

Who knows, maybe this new edition will bring down the aftermarket price of the Sub Press edition, which, actually, I wouldn't mind replacing my UK S/L with, since it would match my other two Sub Press S/L Weir books.
I am passing as I have the Sub Press edition.

I passed for a lot of the same reasons but am a bit pained as well as I would have loved a copy of this. Between my May Thunderstorm pre-orders, the Lividian pre-order for Leviathan, and also the PS pre-order for Firestarter, this month's book budget is pretty much shot and then some!

Yep, that too -- that pre-order for LEVIATHAN gave me some solace that my passing on THE MARTIAN was the right move. I haven't decided about FIRESTARTER yet...while it's high on my King list and I'd intended to pick up a copy when PS produced their edition, I'm kind of turned off my McKean's art for it -- really seems an odd fit for the vibe I have of FIRESTARTER in my mind -- so am not sure what I want to do.

While I get their newsletter, I've pretty much just resigned myself to being a curious spectator than an actual buyer. Their editions are very attractive, but the price point, even on the lower standard editions, are just to prohibitive a cost for my budget to bear.

Me too! I would have loved a copy of Hyperion (missed out on the SubPress version and now it's ridiculous on the aftermarket) when they offered but their prices tend to be just a tad too rich for my blood!
