RJK, that's wonderful to hear! And Norman's an amazing writer. I read everything he puts out.

Yeah, I will very rarely read reviews of books before reading them. I might look to see if reviews seem positive, but not read them in depth so it doesn't spoil anything for me. With some I don't bother with checking reviews or waiting for reviews before purchasing (such as Kin, or anything in the CDSS or Novella series)

Have only read his 2 CD books but have to agree. Still need to read his story in Shivers VI (as well as almost all of the others). Will get to diving more into that anthology at some point, lol. Still working my way through The Passage right. Would probably be finished with it by now if I haven't been so busy with life (school, moving, and getting married tend to take up a lot of time, lol).

In relation to spoilers in novels, I recently learned of a study that said an individual's reading experience tends to be more positive if he or she knows how the book ends. Apparently it alleviates the stress of wondering if certain characters whom you've grown attached to make it out alive or not.

Said study having been run by some guy who could never keep his trap shut after reading a good book!!

I have also heard of that study, but it wouldn't apply to me. I personally don't sit and wonder what characters will live or not. I can understand that if it's the 2nd time through a story, but the first time through I don't want to know the end.

If I know how a book ends, I won't read it. Period.

Its not always about the end though, sometimes its the journey thats most worthwhile...

I agree, but I'd rather know nothing about it, particularly the ending, or it detracts significantly from the experience.

Same with movies. I avoid reviews like the plague these days because some of them have a habit of giving too much away.

I have the same thing with trailers (well, I don't avoid them because they are just too tempting, especially at work, but several times I've stumbled upon trailers that reveal WAY too much!)

I agree. There have been some major offenders in that regard. The recent DREAM HOUSE, and in the past, QUARANTINE, come to mind.

Cool. I figured it'd only be a matter of time before this was shipped out.
