If copies ever do appear, and then somehow a few find their way to the secondary market, budget be damned, I’m in for whatever it takes. I love Partridge’s fiction, and it was a sad day when it dried up almost, what, two decades ago? Damn, but time flies.

But I’m glad someone is keeping hope alive for THE BUTCHER’S TALE, because I lost all hope long, long ago.

I feel for you on this one spookymizu . . . I probably would have cut my losses ages ago, but after 14 (almost 15 years!) I see the thrill of the hunt on this one.

The time has come for my annual sojourn deep into the wilds of the Cem Dance Forums. I am hunting a rare beast indeed - I seek the Oktober Shadow beast.

Some say it only rears its head on one night a year. Only the most devoted reader will get to see it. Are you sincere enough? Do you have what it takes? Are you ready to read the Butcher's Tale?

I am ready to hunt the most dangerous game. Bring it on!

So, no substantial updates, I suppose. It doesn't seem like Norman has released much material in recent years. Does anybody have an update on how HE is doing? I hope he is well.

Don't forget, you can read the first part of this story, 10/31 Bloody Mary here

    Signing out as...

    Spooky Mizu

I think I used to have the same issue, and there might be another user who still does. But I haven't seen it personally for awhile. I'm doing double-spaces after my periods (because goddammit that's how I was taught!) just to double-check.

ETA: Seems to have no issues with the weird character. For what's in worth, I'm on a Windows 11 machine with Firefox as my browser. All updates current.

Yeah, I get that the Updates page says that. They just changed the update date on it. It's been the same update for years. What I really want is to get a quote from the author about what his plan is. I don't want to cancel the order. That would be ridiculous! This has become a contest of stamina for me. :-)

I'm not trying to complain - I just want a better update. I read the first story that this one is connected to, and really liked it. Looking forward to reading this second story.

I don't ever look at that page anymore, it's just not a thing for me...I honestly forget it exists. I have to check and see for sure, but I believe all of the pre-orders that I have are over a decade old, one in particular over TWO decades old. THOSE books should be getting e-mail updates, at least for those of us whose money has been held up for 10-20 years.I see these almost daily "ORDER MY BOOK AND GET ALL OF THIS FREE SWAG!!!!" messages and think that maybe some of that stuff should be sent to the people that ordered, say, SHOCKLINES, 20+ years ago as a little "I'm sorry, we'll do better" offering. I try not to comment on CD's elephant in the room (Their chronic lateness), but at this point, it's beyond inexcusable.

That’s very good to know, as I was still mulling it over today after seeing it a couple days ago. Thanks, you just saved me $20, $25.

I almost bought the book just for his story. Almost.

It caught my eye that he also has a new story in the upcoming Lansdale DRIVE IN anthology, so... good news?

Well, Drat, and Double Drat (Spooky throws a hissy fit, then a hysterical tantrum, and finishes with a tempestuous outburst).

I wish there was some sort of update, but wishes only come to those that are the most sincere. I shall wait in my pumpkin patch until the Great One finally arrives in my mailbox.

    Thanks, Dan.
