It will complete the trilogy of anthologies that launched with the CDCC 7 and continued with the CDCC 8... and all still need published because, ugh, so many reasons. BUT they will be a VERY nice set of books when all is said and done!Originally posted by bookworm 1 View PostI signed up last month also when it was offered to the CDCC members. Now just want to know about this year's book.

I do not recall hearing that the 50% off sale would no longer happen. When did you hear this?Originally posted by frik51 View PostIt did for me as well. The recent drop from a 50% to a 25% discount is such a huge disappointment though.
The CDCC loses much of its appeal that way.
At least, to me it does.

6) The ONLY opportunity for ANYONE to purchase discounted Cemetery Dance Gift Certificates
A few years back, we stopped accepting coupons toward the purchase of Cemetery Dance Gift Certificates... with the exception of a special coupon we send to JUST the members of the CDCC each year! This year the coupon will allow members to take 25% off AS MANY Gift Certificates as they want for a few days only. These Gift Certificates never expire and can be used for any book or subscription we offer through our website, and many members of the CDCC like to "stock up" and be prepared for future announcements. (So, if you've ever looked at the price of a signed Stephen King Limited Edition and wished you could save 25% off that purchase, this would be the way you can do that.)Brian James Freeman

Yes, unfortunately we were losing too much money in the long run on the purchases made with the Gift Certificates.Originally posted by frik51 View PostIt did for me as well. The recent drop from a 50% to a 25% discount is such a huge disappointment though.

For example, we pay 50% of the cover price on books from other publishers, so when CDCC members were buying a book from another publisher with their 10% to 30% off coupon AND paying with a Gift Certificate they bought for 50% off, we were losing a lot of money... Especially when you look at a book from other publisher where we received 50 copies and 40 of them sold this way!
We don't blame anyone for using the Certificates like that, it's exactly how they were advertised! But we had to tighten the reins a bit and be a little smarter about these things as we move into our third decade. The costs of production continue to climb, the cost of freight and the such are only getting higher, etc. (Don't even ask about the cost of heath care for a small company like ours!) If we want to keep on rolling for years to come, we had to tighten things up a bit.
The math still works out great for the collector, though! Take 25% off the gift certificate and then use it to pay after get 10% to 30% off the books we announce (ours and other pubs) or on Grab Bags, etc, and I think you're still getting a really great deal!

That is what I get for not reading the fine print. I still think it is a good deal and have made purchases in the past thinking 'there is no way they are not losing money, hope other sales make up for it.' The 50% was great but with the coupons it was often excessive. I am cool with the 25%.Originally posted by Brian James Freeman View PostIt's on the page:

I'm still in. 25% off the GC plus additional discounts offered is still a steal.Originally posted by Brian James Freeman View PostYes, unfortunately we were losing too much money in the long run on the purchases made with the Gift Certificates.

Oops, missed this comment, sorry! I like the idea of offering them more than once each year since they are 25% off now... I will send that idea to RC's office and see what kind of reply I get back! Thanks!Originally posted by TacomaDiver View PostI didn't realize the GCs were now only 25%, but I'm still good with that. It's still a pretty good deal depending on how much you buy.
Maybe the GC sales now can happen more than once?Brian James Freeman
