    Looks great, of course.

Are these photos any different from the 9th and 10th ones down (if I'm counting correctly) on the "Photos" tab of http://www.cemeterydance.com/page/CDP/PROD/king10? I'm not trying to be a d!ck; just curious if I'm missing what's actually new about these particular photos.

I think we're still waiting to see what the lettered edition looks like, and since photos are the closest I'll come to that, I can't wait to see those as well.

Maybe! I'd like to get a few more things finished on The Shining before we officially announce it... so there's a much shorter wait for this one!

But if you find a problem, B&N should make returns nice and easy for you.

    Thanks!

Any chance there's something different with the B&N product, no slipcase etc. (although the picture on their site shows the slipcase)?

While I like B&N, I generally prefer to support specialty sellers when I can (in this case, CD), but going B&N might make it an easier sell to the better half.

Anything I should know about this before moving ahead?

So far, Pet Sematary, Carrie and 'Salem's Lot are done (Lot almost) and Night Shift will be the fourth Doubleday, but The Stand was not mentioned, nor was The Shining.
Then again, you never know how these things work out.

And each special edition WILL be different, some might look fancier and others might have more artwork and others might have bonus material you can't find in any other edition. It's a little more complicated these days since different editions are overlapping like this, but I know every publisher tries their best to bring their A-game to make each edition valuable in its own way!

Some out there can easily get both, but some will likely have to choose just one, and it will be interesting to see how they compare.

I know the CD volumes will be oversized and contain bonus material, and if the artwork maintains the quality level established in Carrie and SL, the CD Shining will be nothing less than great. Having said that, FS invariably does quality work, but it can vary with regard to how close it hits or exceeds expectations (they occasionally aim at a different target). At the very least, the FS Shining will be distinctive and worth considering, but I wouldn't be surprise if it is a "fine" edition that doesn't land as many punches, so to speak, as the CD edition. Still, it will be interesting to see and compare.

The 2 or 3 bits of artwork for the FS Shining I've seen, which seem to be segments of illustrations and not full illustrations, were evocative but didn't blow me away (as with CD DY artwork, which has spoken for itself), but then perhaps I just need to see more.

Yeah, the publisher files for 'Salem's Lot were in a strange proprietary format that made them a mess to work with. A lot of line-by-line copyediting went into fixing them, which also allowed us to fix some things that had been accidentally changed since the first printing!
