Stealing from myself on another board where someone asked about the production of this book:

Starting back in January, Glenn went nuts on the artwork with a little bit of direction from us based on what we were hoping to do with the book. He also filled in a few gaps during the design phase. (The very last pieces, which I love but will save as a little surprise for when folks read the book, arrived over this past weekend.)

Kate handles all of the design based on ideas and concepts from our production meetings. In this case, there was a very specific rhythm to the poem that we wanted to convey as Glenn's artwork turned it into a kind of mixed media story.

This book isn't for everyone, but I think those who enjoy how King can use a few words to create very full, real life scenes and those who enjoy Glenn's artwork will get a real kick out of it.

So I am betting no one won the guess what it is contest, since the poem is pretty obscure.

Three winners, actually! They really reasoned it out, too, in their explanations, which were awesome to read! It was a very much "off the cuff" contest and informal, so I don't want to post people's names because I never said I would and I don't want people feeling like I posted their names without permission. But they're welcome to speak up if they're on here! (I also posted my little contest on another board where collectors are discussing it right now.)

It was a LONG day. I started on the computer at 6 AM and finally logged off around 3 AM the next morning.

Wow...that's crazy, but obviously time well spent.

Quick question for Brian (or whoever may be able to answer). This is also a general question, not necessarily related to this book.... It said in the announcement that there will be copies distributed to bookstore shelves upon release. Are these going to widely available? The reason I ask, as I have never seen a CD book at my local Chapters store(s). Not that it is a big deal really, as I (we) can all order right from the site, however..... I am kind of bummed that my local stores don't have any of your books.

So the release date has been stated as July 30, but now I see that the latest email update is saying that's just for the trade editions. When exactly do you expect the limited to ship? Is this going to be yet another book I end up waiting years for?

It depends on how many copies each bookstore orders, but this is definitely one where you could call them and ask (in about a week when the ISBNs start getting out there) if they'll have it.

I think I will do just that. I'd like to see your stuff available at the store level around here, which then brings more people to your website, etc.....

                          Hi Trevor!

The signed editions were always most likely going to ship in late August or early September. The heavy paper stock for those editions may take an extra four weeks to arrive because it's a fairly rare stock that has to be produced in special runs, but we're still waiting for confirmation on that. If the printer can get the paper faster, those editions will ship sooner. Of course, please feel free to cancel your order if you don't want to wait.
