Suggestions, anyone?

I hope to leave for the US next month, and will arrive in Houston,TX, on July 4. From there it's straight North, Oklahoma, Kansas, all the way into North Nakota. Then, West into Montana and South again, through the Rockies (Denver!) back to Houston again.

This is my question: does anyone reading this have any suggestions as to anything must-see/must do?? I'm open to anything, from regular tourist attractions to National parks to great second-hand bookstores! Especially those!

You should definitely hit the Black Hills in South Dakota! Not only do they have Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse monument-they have caves and parks and about a million natural wonders! You could spend 2 weeks in the hills and not see everything I grew up there!

If you get into New Mexico...you can't miss Carlsbad Caverns. Wondrous stuff. Also Monument Valley is somewhere around the southwest, maybe Utah?

Since you're landing in Houston on the 4th of July, I'd hit some fireworks and a barbecue right off the bat!

I haven't actually been there, but Rocky Mountain National Park in northern CO should be a great place to visit and perhaps camp. I was planning on going on there when I was down in CO a couple years ago, but plans got changed a little. I also meant to go to the Wild Animal Sanctuary outside of Denver but didn't have enough time to make it make it worth it on my last day there

I loved touring the NASA facilities in Houston.

Depending how far you're going into Montana, there's always Yellowstone National Park. Or is it Wyoming, hard to tell on google maps it's such a big park.
