Nostalgia is kicking in again, so today I started "The Summer Tree" by Guy Gavriel Kay.

Finished Southern Gods. The first half played out like a combination of two of my favorite 80s movies: Angel Heart and Crossroads. Then, enter a priest with all the answers (and some really evil tomes of course) and it moves to a rather spectacularly awesome grisly finish, but trying to explain the mechanations of The Great Old Ones and The Other Gods in 10 pages is impossible. The Lovecraftian Mythos is most powerful when the human pawns don't really understand what is going on and are just used as playthings. But it was entertaining with a great finale.

Another novella from the PS grab bag, Dead Earth: The Green Dawn by Mark Justice and David T. Wilbanks is next.

Great idea BW! I'll probably start Dead Earth tomorrow or Wednesday and I'll see how it goes from there.

Dead Earth was a good zombie story, enjoyed it immensely. Reminded me of Planet Terror. Braunbeck was right in his intro, Jubal Slate is a terrific character.

The Crane House is next on the list.

I just found out CD even did one of his limiteds.
Have to track that one down for sure.

And for those not familiar with this author - go for it.
                    You won't regret it!

The Crane House was a most excellently creepy and scary read! Congratz to everyone who scored a copy of this gem. You're in for one helluva a good time.

                      Reading Railsea by China Mieville.

Hero by Wrath James White and JF Gonzalez. One of the nastiest stories I have read for a long time. Great read though.

The Michael Slade books are excellent! Make sure you start with HEADHUNTER as there's a back story that runs through the novels.

Haven't read them all but Ripper is my favorite Slade novel. I actually read while in Cannon Beach Oregon, which some of the book is placed in.
