The original cut version of The Stand "would not be everyone's cup of tea" as I for one much prefer the definitive uncut version as it was far richer with it's characterisation and narrative drive.

If the announcement is for the original version of The Stand, I will certainly pass and opinion will be divided from those who prefer the original and those that prefer the extra 400 pages in the uncut version.

But there's already a Stand S/L, though if it is a King book i think you're right in it being an older one
