I finished 5 in June, though three of them were chapbooks.
1. Carrie’s Legacy edited by Richard Chizmar & Brian James Freeman was a collection of remembrances (mainly) and critical analyses (a few) in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of Carrie by Stephen King.
2. Carved in Salt by Tyler Jones was the first of the three chapbooks I read this month from Rapture Publishing. An excellent tale of grief horror with a twist ending I did not see coming. 5 / 5
3. The Devil by Name by Keith Rosson was a very good follow up to excellent Fever House. I liked TDBN almost as much as Fever House. TDBN didn’t have the frenetic pacing of Fever House (though it was a very well paced story), relying more on storyline and plot development. Rosson has definitely become an author I will keep an eye out for. 4.5 / 5
4. Death on the Swayback by Chris Panatier was the second chapbook from Rapture I read this month. This was the first thing that I’ve read from Panatier, who seems to be the in house artist for Rapture Publishing.
