I'm packing up my books and I thought it was either Simon Strantzas or Simon Kurt Unsworth who wrote "The Moraine", but none of their books on my shelf list that story. It's a phenomenal story of a hiker (and wife?) who get tricked and trapped by a sentient moraine through its use of mimicry. Anyone recognize this story and can please lead me to its author?

Edit: Just did a quick Google search with his name and the title, and, yep, that's exactly it.
Edit 2: Well, I just looked up the ToC of his Ash Tree Press collection, HAZY SHADE OF WINTER, and that story isn't in it. I did read it in its original publication, the TERROR TALES OF THE LAKE DISTRICT anthology, but I thought for sure it was archived in that ATP collection so was part of my collection. Weird how memory works. I just traded in all ten (?) of my TERROR TALES OF... tpbs, so am now going to have to go back to that bookstore in the new few weeks and snag the LAKE DISTRICT one back.Last edited by RonClinton; 07-23-2024, 03:45 AM.Twitter: https://twitter.com/ron_clinton

Totally missed that newer collection — thanks, I’ll track down a copy. I’d rather have it in that than an anthology.Twitter: https://twitter.com/ron_clinton
