    Favorite Reads of 2023

2023 was my worst reading year, at least as far as volume, in a while.

    Only finished 50 books, with 5 DNF’s.

My favorites for last year, no rereads included, were:

    1. The Girl With All the Gifts by M. R. Carey

    2. The Pale Blue Eye by Louis Bayard

    3. Holly by Stephen King

    4. The Boy on the Bridge by M. R. Carey

    5. The Dog Stars by Peter Heller

    6. In a Lonely Place by Karl Edward Wagner

    7. The Longest December / A Face in the Crowd by Richard Chizmar / Stewart O’Nan and Stephen King

    8. A Sliver of Darkness by CJ Tudor

    9. Anno Dracula by Kim Newman

    10. The Secret Life of Insects by Bernardo Esquinca

    10. Horrors of War by Tim Curran

Resolution for 2024 - To put a bigger dent in my continually growing TBR pile than I did in 2023.

Any year’s best-of list that has Heller and KEW in it is a fine year indeed.

Oh, I'm reading In a Lonely Place by Karl Edward Wagner. I'm reading the original vampire story. It's really fascinating.
