    Fredrick Backman...?

Anybody read him? He’s crossed my radar several times via enthusiastic reviews of his (non-horror) work, but I’ve never followed up and read him. However, he has a new one out entitled ANXIOUS PEOPLE that has really caught my eye.

I read A Man Called Ove some time back. An outstanding book. Nothing to do with this genre, but I don't think you could go wrong with him, Ron.

Thanks, good to hear. OVE seems to be the one that really put him on the map, and I’ve browsed it a number of times, but haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet. I think I’ll go ahead and pick up his new one, and if I like that I’ll give OVE a try as well. Just in the mood for something different.

Ove was fantastic! Great film adaptation as well.

My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry was pretty good as well. Heard mixed things about Britt-Marie Was Here. And I have a copy of Beartown that's been sitting in my TBR pile for awhile...

I hadn't heard about Anxious People yet! Let us know how it is if you give it a read.

I ended up buying a trade paperback of OVE, and am about halfway through now and enjoying it. I think I’m enjoying it enough to spring for a signed first edition hardcover of ANXIOUS PEOPLE that my local book bookstore is offering via a virtual signing event. Only have a few more days to decide, though, so I need to hurry up and finish OVE.

When the movie for Ove was getting all the attention I was intrigued about the book. I have not seen the movie but may pick the book up and give it a go.

Had no idea there’d been a movie made of it. Not sure all the subtle humor in the book could translate successfully to the screen, but if it’s ever on one of my streaming services I’ll have to give it a shot and see.

I had never heard of it until the movie was nominated for best foreign language film. The clips I saw then certainly hinted at dark dry humor.

While I'm still not finished with A MAN CALLED OVE, I am enjoying it enough to spring for the virtual discussion and signed book ticket for ANXIOUS PEOPLE from my local bookstore. I know don't if he'll end up joining Matt Haig, Stewart O'Nan, and Peter Heller as my favorite Popular-Literature authors, but Backman is off to a good start with OVE.
