The corner of Ebay and Broke Dick is not a place for the squeamish. Especially at night. But I just can't help myself.

This was advertised under the title "what I think is a 2nd edition"--since it was still shrink-wrapped, that made sense. It was one of those items that had gone under the radar and had no bids on it with 2 days to go. So I watched it and debated and decided that it might turn out to be something else--like a first edition. So I waited and successfully sniped it.

There's a couple of small pock-marks on the back cover and s 1/4-inch tear on Roland's back, but I can live with that.

There's some stain on the inside spine of the DJ that has lightly bled through to the outside. And the top of the front end flap is curled inward. After 30 years in shrinkwrap, it'll probably stay that way.

All in all, I'm happy.

Thanks guys. The 1st/1st is going to be rough and will have to wait. For the time being I'm gonna try my hand at putting platic covers on books. I've a few BCEs I experiemnt with first.

I searched all over for a HPB but I wasn't near one during my stay back in the US. And I was hoping to bring back a load of books too.

A trip to HPB on my way back from the movies yeilded The Original of Laura (Dying is Fun) by Vladimir Nabokov. I remember not buying it in 2009 because I hadn't paid $35.00 for a book in a long time (I was still a year away from discovering CD and I hadn't bought an HC in years.)
