But I'm not a collector...

so there i was, just settling in to watch bag of bones (which i missed las night because of football), when a loud knock on the door came. Very annoying, but i'm...generally a social creature, so i answered it. Postman billy greeted me with a "merry christmas" and some packages! So, my brief annoyance flew out the window.

Two were stuff everybody should be familiar with by now (not including those rock underdwellers, of course!)

I have the Hill House edition of Ghost Story too. It's a beautiful edition of a fantastic book!!

So now I have two states, the HH s/l and a 1st/1st American HC:

I have a really rough looking copy of this edition, but it holds great sentimental value. My father bought it for my mother for Mother's Day in 1979, about a week before I was born. When I was in college, I asked Peter if he could sign it for my mom for another Mother's Day. He happily did so and included a card to me that said, "Here you go, what a nice gift for your mother -- apart from the subject matter, of course."

Wow! Thanks for the remininsce, Brian. What a great story! Regardless of condition, that copy is preiceless (kinda like my 16th print paperback of The Shining--only in a whole other league!)
