I grew up with cats and hated dogs (they liked to bite me--I guess I tasted good ), but I can't stand cats anymore and I love dogs--go figure.
It takes a lot of care and attention early in development for a cat to turn out as a good pet, many people do not know and they wind up with a not-very-loving or even a scary pet, I see it all the time with other people's cats but I raise mine very well and they are Supercats
The last dog I had was a German Sheppard and chow mix named Lucky and I had her for 15 years, when I lost her, I just couldn't get another one, maybe one day
I have 2 cats, both males and they are fantastic cats, not declawed, and no scratching issues. Like two boys, they have their spats, but otherwise are best buds. Both of them are affectionate in their own way, and the older one (by less than a yr) is my suck, only cuddles up to me but I found they were easy to train, etc, right from being kittens - couldn't ask for a better pair of cats. I find them super low maintenance. - I also have 2 small dogs (one min-pin/chihuahua - male, and one is a heinz 57 mutt, she is part chihuahua too, with maybe jack russel or some kind of terrier mix). They get along great, but man does the min-pin love chasing the cats, but they don't put up with his crap! If I had a choice to keep one pair or the other, it would be the cats without a question.
To backtrack on the Pet subject. I now live with Two Chihuahua's, A Border Collie Mix and two cats. Plus my sister is a groomer and has more dogs here on a regular basis. Its a full house and add 6 people into the mix as well. No matter how full this place gets, I miss my Murphman
