Because every comic these days requires at least 5 covers. Part of why I stopped caring...

I'm not a comic / graphic-novel guy anymore, but if my preteen/teenage interest in them was to ever switch back on, I think it'd be smothered pretty quickly by that very reason. Repackaging a product with no additional material save for a new skin and with the express purpose of getting more for the same, is just taking advantage of the collector mindset and is really a bit distasteful.
