There is actually quite a story behind that case. It's a one of a kind and the entire story is well documented in my thread over at TDT.Org if you're curious. I'm very good friends with the case maker, Dick OlsonOriginally posted by Theli View PostMore awesome books. I dig the burnt look of the traycase for Firestarter.

A little something different....

Custom wooden case, the imperfections in the wood were intentional to "distress" the case a bit and make it look older. If I recall (I'd have to check my notes, but its old and in wonderful condition) 15th UK edition of The Hobbit. I have LOTR as well, but timeline wise I bought the collectible editions before having the custom cases built so I have to search a bit to round all the pics up for one post.Last edited by Merlin1958; 12-05-2014, 08:12 PM.My Collection:

Ah, after al little looking I found some "after" pics once it was all assembled together.

LOTR, US 16th printing. Also in excellent shape. Damn, it seems as if "Imageschack" has lost some of my older pics!!! What a PITA!!!Last edited by Merlin1958; 12-05-2014, 08:18 PM.My Collection:

There is a little more continuity in "My Collection" thread at TDT.Org as a lot of my books were "upgraded" with art later. If you are interested the link is listed in my signature. I'll do my best to consolidate them for here though. Let me know if I should keep going, or if its "enough" already. LOL I am still a newb when it comes to the protocols on these boards and don't want to seem like an ass.My Collection:

Great stuff. I really love the LOTR stuff. I wish I had the money to get some good collectible versions of those. Or even the Easton Press collection.Originally posted by Merlin1958 View PostThere is a little more continuity in "My Collection" thread at TDT.Org as a lot of my books were "upgraded" with art later. I as well. While what I have acquired is not cheap by any means and Tolkien's four novels are my all time favorite as much as I love King, between the complexities of identifying editions and the cost as you go back you could put a down payment on a house for what it would cost for some of the really early editions. I'm very happy with what I was able to afford and that is why I splurged on the custom cases. I hope that "Merlin IV" (my Grandson) can pass them on to "Merlin V, VI & VII".Originally posted by Dan Hocker View PostGreat stuff. I really love the LOTR stuff. From the comics. Back in the day I had occasion to cross swords with, Richard Isanove for the following....
