Martin, I finished FUZZY NATION tonight, and you were right (in another thread)...it’s a fantastic read, full of character and thrills, heart and charm. Just a wonderful read.

I couldn’t help it — just started another Scalzi (THE ANDROID’S DREAM) right after it.

Androids Dream is a fun read and more very creative story telling. I would put below Fuzzy Nation but not far below. One week until I get some new Scalzi to read!

I do not think I had ever seen that cover before. It is perfect! Side note. Two days ago a good friend of mine who I have sucked into Scalzi addiction texted me a photo of the trade Agent to the Stars with the note "This is a good one!".

Man oh man, I did not click with ANDROID’S DREAM at *all.*

I’m halfway through and am throwing in the towel on this one. I have no interest in what happens in the latter half, and couldn’t really tell you what the first half was about…it was one of those reading experiences where you just see the words on the page but don’t truly absorb them in any meaningful way. Absolutely surprising, given that until now I’ve loved everything I’ve read by him...this is my first bad Scalzi experience, but it’s a stunningly disappointing one.

Sorry to hear that. Not a classic for me but I enjoyed it. My two disappointments have been God's Engines and Miniatures. Miniatures in particular was not good.

Have not picked up those two yet...maybe I’ll not be in a rush to do so.

I would put those two somewhere between Androids Dream and Get Fuzzy. I did enjoy them and they are creative stories. I think I cares about the characters more in the Lock In series than those in Androids Dream.

Well, Martin, it took me a while, but I finally last night ordered a signed first edition HC of LOCK IN. Incredibly, I received a $25 gift certificate from eBay for my 25 years of patronage, and blew it on the Scalzi book…covered about half of it.

Nice addition. I have the same certificate and have my eye on a couple of things to consider using it on. You need to have a Head On to go with it.

Yeah, in fact, the seller I went through also had a signed 1st ed. hardcover of HEAD ON, but it was on the high side of retail, and he wasn’t interested in a Best Offer bid on it. But you bet, I do plan to pick up the sequel in fairly short order... In fact, I’ll probably be regretting my decision to not opt for the other book with the same seller, because as soon as I’m done with the first I know I will be immediately jonesing for the second.

Even if you're fancy and have the signed editions, or just the regular trades, a collection like this is still great and makes reading this series really easy (assuming you're onboard with the whole eBook idea.)
