I dont know, on the sk list theres a few that show it with the number line AND the first edition stated. I dont know if it has to have both to be a first or what. maybe one was used in one print and the other in another print. like ones a first print and the other is a 2nd or something. I have no idea. I still don't understand first printings at all though...how to determine them I mean.

If it has a number line, that designates the "Printing" As far as the "first published" thing. I would say if it doesn't have that, maybe it's a 2nd edition? Not sure though. I'm not really all that familliar with the older King stuff. Grant and Siep are probably the most knowledgeable people on this board in that department.

How to tell if your book is a first printing?

Since we where turning bookworm's collection thread into a discussion on how to tell if something is a first printing or not, I thought I'd move those posts over to a separate thread.

Hmm... I like it when books say "First Printing". Nice and simple. Unfortunately, they don't always do that.

When trying to identify King firsts this is a great resource:

George Beah was at first planning a second edition, but unfortunately decided against it. Such a book would be outdated very quickly, as this first printing has become as well.
Still, apart from the monetary value of the items discussed, it's a great reference book.
