ENDER'S WAY, Centipede Press signed/#d HC, discounted $50 off publisher's price!

ENDER'S WAY, Orson Scott Card, Centipede Press, signed and numbered edition, unread and thus in perfect, Fine/Fine condition in capped slipcase as issued.

Publisher's original price was $250, but...

...on sale here for $200 + $10 shipping -- a desirable Centipede volume discounted to move.

This collection -- exclusive to Centipede Press, I believe -- gathers eleven short stories, one novella, and one unpublished, and each story has a stunning black & white full page illustration.

Man, I'm rather surprised that you're have a hard time selling this one. I guess maybe because it's not a core title to the series? $200 shipped is a great deal for the book, though. Makes me wonder if the market isn't softening up a little bit. I'm seeing some prices on recent Centipede titles going for reasonable prices instead of the insanely inflated prices we've seen over the last couple of years. I've been thinking of selling off my Dune books since I doubt I'll actually ever read them (I just have to admit that a lot of science fiction and fantasy are just not my thing), but was going to wait until after I have the third in hand.

Anyways, sorry to hijack your thread! Good luck on your sale!

Yeah, I've had it listed at eBay for its $250 published price for several weeks and it's still there. When you can't sell a major(ish) Centipede release with all its bells and whistles, capped slipcase and all, years after for what you paid for it -- let alone well below publication price here and at TDT.org -- I would say that it's a certain sign that the small-press collectible-book market has softened considerably. It's not the only sign, certainly...I've been selling consistently now for a couple years, and unless you're offering key titles or key authors (e.g. signed King) -- or limited ed. fantasy, which has all sorts of ardent fans/buyers -- it's been a tough row to hoe for a while. The customer base for these types of books is progressively shrinking, as is the disposable income of many, and it shows. I've never bought for investment purposes -- we all know that's a fool's game, one fraught with risk -- but with Centipede there was at least a sense that one would could recoup most, if not all, the initial outlay, but even that confidence is upended. There's little rhyme or reason to it anymore, so the longheld principle to buy only what you want and makes you happy, with no thought to resale, is now more important than ever.

Your last sentence nailed it. The market is soft and even signed SK is soft. You will move SK but typically not at price point you would expect. Perfect time to be a buyer if you have the means however, most I know, are feeling the squeeze.

Well, ENDER'S WAY is now sold, so the book is no longer available.

But if Dan Simmons and his HYPERION series is your thing, I have a signed and matching-numbered set of the Subterranean Press editions of HYPERION and THE FALL OF HYPERION in Fine/Fine condition -- and in protective if somewhat unimpressive aftermarket slipcases -- on eBay at the moment with just one day to go:

Congratulations on finally selling the Ender book! I've always wanted to track down Simmons's Hyperion books, but they are just out of my price range. I got slightly excited when Curious King announced they were doing new limiteds, hoping that they would be in my price range, but they went the ultra-pricey route. Looks like you've got a few bidders on your auction. Hope it goes sky-high for you!

Thanks -- unlike ENDER'S WAY, they did go for more than I paid for them, so that's always a plus!
