Being a Cardinals fan, and that being the year the Red Sox blanked them in the World Series, I almost gave up King when he wrote that. It was a very painful offseason, and if the Cards hadn't won 2 years later I might not have recovered.

Personally, I just liked the original cover of FAITHFUL better:
I'm a life-long Yankee fan, but I still plan on buying Faithful. It just keeps getting moved down the list of priorities. Kinda like War and Peace keeps getting shifted to the bottom of my TBR list...
I thought they might change the title to 22/11/63 for the UK edition. I've been in the US for 21 years and I still have to stop and think sometimes when writing dates in US format. MMDDYY just makes no sense...if we told time like that we'd have MM:HH:SS.
That's what I thought too.
But then I came across Faithful, which I haven't been able to get myself to actually read -yet.
Have you?
sk
I love Faithful but being a faithful Red Sox fan helps! lol. With apologies to OZ, I have been a die hard Sox fan practically since birth so this book is exciting to read and be able to relive the 2004 World Series win. If you're not a Sox fan,or a baseball fan for that matter, this probably will not be enjoyable for you. Even though THE MAN wrote it Also agree that the original cover is better but I do enjoy seeing A-Rod's face being smashed by V-Tek.
P.S. srboone-we won't be enemies now will we?
P.P.S. second C.W. LaSart in that I would buy a freakin cookbook, telephone book, pamphlet..if he wrote it!
In regards to this thread: Already made room on the shelf, had to move a couple of dozen book for this behemoth!
In The Wolves of the Calla, Pere Callahan says that Black Thirteen tempted him with the idea of openning the Cave Doorway to Dallas 11/22/63 and trying to prevent the assasination of JFK. But he realized that B13 would tempt you with the thought that you would be doing good, only to have you discover the truth about your actions later. Susannah thinks it would be a good idea to try since JFK was a gunslinger, but Eddie chimes in that if the Crimson King tried to get Callahan to do this, JFK's death probably foiled some machination of CK's--Oswald might turn out to be a hero!
My sarcastic joke about an agent of CK having assassinated JFK was probably 180 degrees from the truth. I'm really looking forward to this book!
I must admit that i forgot about that. Not sure there will be any Dark Tower references in 11/22/63 but like you said i am very much looking forward to reading it!

I am a lifelong American and if you asked me today's date, I would say "August 4th" not "the fourth of August" so to me, the mm/dd/yyyy makes perfect sense. It probably stems from our earliest teachings and is beyond our control.

Ahh but don't we sometimes tell time like that? Half past, quarter after, quarter till.
