But there are some great pieces in that first arc (I am Hope, and the diner issue as two examples.)
    That's very well stated and I agree. Sandman eventually becomes a lot of things. It starts out as a horror comic, essentially, and evolves. I don't know- at the time, it was revelatory. Today? Hard to say.
