Just saw the cover-art for the trade hardcover of Robert McCammon's "Leviathan". All I can say is WOW! That might be the best cover-art of the entire series and pretty much has me frothing for this book. I know that it won't be until 2025, but I cannot wait for the LE to be announced!

If you have not seen the limited dust jacket art, it similar but has a darker feel to it. Love them both but prefer the limited.

                This absolutely sucks.

(In a "Why must this amazing series ever end???" kind of way.)

Holding out for the LE but the trade does look sweet!

You can usually get signed copies when Alabama Booksmith has their McCammon signing event, happens with every new release.

Yes, Alabama Booksmith already has a pre-order page for signed copies. We're working on nailing down the date for the book launch event.

And it is very sad that this is the last book. But McCammon had always seen it as a nine- or ten-book series, and he wanted to finish the story while he still could. He didn't want to pull a George RR Martin and leave it unfinished. That's why he just wrote Matthew books after The Listener. He'd originally intended to alternate Matthew and non-Matthew books, but after The Listener, he decided it was more important to finish Matthew's story first. And I'm glad he did!

One of the curses of growing older, for me, is that I still think of myself as a kid, and consequently think of people whose work I enjoy as being around 40 years old. When I stop and realize that I'm 53, then I think "Well, shit...fill-in-the-blank must be in his '70s!" So having not considered that Mr. McCammon has got to be at least a little bit older than I am, I appreciate his desire to give his fans a conclusion. (Which I don't think we'll ever get from Mr. Martin.)

That said, I look forward to seeing what comes after Matthew Corbett's finale. Looking forward to whatever Mr. McCammon has in store next.

I think we all still think of ourselves as kids. McCammon turned 72 in July. Had he maintained his original plan of alternating books, Leviathan wouldn't have appeared until he'd have been almost 80.

I know of at least three novels he still plans to write in the coming years.

Based on the back-cover pics of his more recent books, he looks damned good for 72. Long may he continue to write!
