    Stygian Sky Media

Just received the hardcover limited edition of "And the Devil Cried" by Kristopher Triana, (number 23 of 50 copies). This was my first ever purchase from Stygian Sky Media and I am impressed. Book and cover both turned out very well. The end papers and overall quality of the paper and binding are very good too. Overall, I am very happy that I made this purchase and would order from Stygian Sky again, assuming I find another book/author that interests me. This will also be my first Kristopher Triana read. Have heard nothing but great things about this author's stories and have had him on my list to check out for awhile now; so, I'm very happy to finally remedy that.

    Sounds like a disturbing story.

Is Alex McVey the artist? The artwork style looks familiar.
Looking for the fonting of youth.

I should have ordered this when I had the chance. It's sold out now.

Still not certain about the artist. Anyone know if it's Alex or not?

Stygian Sky Media has a new anthology coming out with a few authors that people around here should recognize.

Cool list of names. Book isn't for me though.

              Thanks for the heads-up.

The list of authors looks amazing. What is currently keeping me from hitting the buy button is that I want to see the table of contents. If I have the bulk of these stories in other analogies already, than I would most likely pass.

I am assuming it will be reprints but wish they would provide a TOC as well.

Stygian just put up a few more books for pre-order! Lots of cool stuff. I just picked-up the Ross Jeffery bundle and am super-stoked!!! Have been wanting to read those for awhile. Am very tempted by the Ronald Kelly book. Love the cover. Will probably wait until next week's Suntup announcement before making a final decision on it. Am stumped by the Suntup clue and am afraid it may end up being something I really want.

Don't you find their site a little tough to navigate? Also there isn't much information on their printings such as signed, limitation, or really anything. Am I missing this information somewhere?

Yeah, their site definitely needs some refining. You can tell they are a smaller press for sure; however, they are growing. Feel of the website reminds me a bit of Earthling's and Thunderstorm's websites in terms of functionality. I'm guessing that the site itself only gets updated occasionally and when they have time. I believe they are a newer press; so, I'm not really that bothered by that yet. I've always been able to find the books that I've wanted to order and they have always responded to direct contact.

Much like yourself, I do wish they were more clear on the details of their limited books, but, again, I think that may be a function of the website itself. I'm guessing that info gets added eventually/as soon as they realize it is missing/figure how to repost it. It's probably posted somewhere on twitter/facebook; however, I don't use those sites. Would be much better business on their part to have that info available upfront and as soon as a pre-order opens, but, if they are selling out their limited editions, then, they may not be in a rush to improve on that.

Personally, I based my purchase today on a couple of things. First, I ordered their previous limited edition, Kristopher Triana's "And the Devil Cried". That book turned out really well. Very solid production. Reminded me a bit of what you would expect from your basic Subterranean Press limited. Also was packaged and shipped quickly; so, my overall experience with them was very good. Also, the limitation for that book was 1 of 50 copies. Not sure if their limitations are always that small, but, I didn't want to chance a quick sellout with my purchase today. The other reason that I made the purchase is that I had previously heard of these books and they sounded like something that I definitely wanted to read; however, they were only ever offered as paperbacks/ebooks which is not my thing. Because of that, I was very happy to see them being given a hardcover limited edition release.

I don't know if the website is hard to navigate altogether, but I can tell you that it was impossible to find the Kelly book. I had to track it down through Kelly's website. After doing that, I stumbled on the search link on the Stygian website and was able to locate the Kelly and Jeffrey books that way. Maybe these aren't 100% ready for the public yet? I agree with Mr. Ben Staad about book information. There is nothing about the books beyond content description. For seventy dollars, I would want a little information to help decide on making a purchase. I almost purchased the Triana book when it was available, but did state it was signed and the 50-copy limitation...and was fifteen dollars cheaper than the Kelly book which feels like a safer gamble somehow.

Good to hear about the quality of the books being solid. That helps, but I'm gonna have to mull these over a bit.

After some digging, it looks like the Ross Jeffrey Juniper Trilogy books are limited to 200 copies. Not sure on the other details yet...

Thanks for the info! Have you read the Juniper books? I've never heard of them or Jeffrey, but the reviews on Goodreads are solid.
