How To: Un-Zip eBook files for Windows

This is probably the question I get the most regarding our eBooks. So I thought I'd throw together a visual "How To" to help walk people through the steps. This was done on Microsoft Windows 7 so it may vary slightly depending on what version of Windows you are using.

Step One: Right click the ".zip" file.

Step Two: Go to the "Open with" menu and click "Choose default program"

Step Three: Select "Windows Explorer" and click "OK"

Step Four: Drag and drop the files you need from the ".zip" file to your desktop or another folder.

Once you set Windows Explorer as the default program for opening the ".zip" files, you will not have to do it again. You can just double click the ".zip" and it will open right to Step 4.

Thanks for this. I have windows 8 and the Kindle app for that on my lap top is nuts. I can no longer move books from my lap top to my kindle unless of course I purchase them from amazon. I can not seem to locate a kindle folder on my computer. The folder inables you to send books to other devices from other stores. The only exception as of now is the book bundle ebooks. So this will help till I can figure it out.

Hey BW, download the Kindle for PC. It lets you send the ".mobi" files to your kindle cloud storage for viewing / synchronization on all your kindle devices / apps.

Not with windows 8 yet. I have tried and they do not show up. Thanks I will keep trying. I know that eventually they will add it.

Ahh, didn't realize they hadn't made a Windows 8 compatible version.

Yeh. Windows 8 kindle app is tablet friendly not computer friendly. If enough people complain they will fix it.

Well for the ones purchased directly from our store, there is always Adobe Digital Editions.
