We're noticing a trend lately with the books we buy from New York, by the way. They're not sending us text files until after the trade edition has been published and in many cases the text files are in a format that can't be easily used, so we end up having to OCR a brand new book like it's a 30 year old reprint, which means a lot of copyediting and cross-checking and extra steps. It's really slowing down production...

So it looks like the Big Boys don't like to play nice. Do they not get a cut of the limited sales and that is why they do that? It would seem to me that the author would have a little bit more control of there art.Originally posted by Brian Freeman View PostProofreading just finished up on this one, so it's now on the "ready for the printer" list. I'll have a better idea when it'll be sent when Richard starts sending the spring titles next week.

In general, the New York publishers have gotten kind of twitchy about "protecting" their own trade sales. They seem to think our little edition is going to "steal" sales of their editions, which is silly thinking to me when you're talking about books that are hitting the bestseller lists. A diehard fan of the author is going to buy both editions. A collector who buys our edition and then reads it and becomes a fan of the author is now more likely to buy future trade editions by that author. At least that's how I see it.

That is how it works on my end. I have trade editions and limited of favorite books. I will be getting the trade of the 2nd book and when CD does the limited I will get that as well.Seems like they are just shooting themselves in the foot. With e-books gaining in popularity it seems they would appreciate the book buyer more.

A quick note o n this one if anyone is like me. I like to buy the signed limited and will now buy a Kindle or ebook to read while that book is being prepped. This one is a one day sale on Amazon for those that use a Kindle: $1.99 but that is just today (1/29/13). I already picked mine up and that way I won't even by tempted to read my signed copy when it comes.

That's a great deal, here's the link:

I saw someone post about Horns by Joe Hill being $1.99, I think, the other day. Where do you learn of these deals?

Every morning Amazon comes out with four special deals on ebooks that run for 24 hours: General Fiction, Non-Fction, Sci-Fi/Fantasy and YA. They usually run between 99cents and $1.99. You can sign up to get a notice each day, but I just go to Amazon/Kindle/Books once a day and look to see what the deals are. Sometimes there is a whole genre at that price with about 25 books for .99-$1.99. They have been running some great deals on older sci-fi from eastern Europe that is really interesting as the writers in the 70's wrote under sci-fi but were really getting around state censors. They had books by Stanislaw Lem for example that most Americans simply have never heard of. They also have had some pretty good YA like Maze Runner and classics like The handmaid's Tale as well as Joe Hill as you noted. It really is worth spending 30 seconds a day just to see what they have.

Just in case anyone is too used to trolling around Amazon, thought I would show where to find these. They are actually kind of hidden. They don't have the "daily deals" on the ebooks on a main page, so if you don't know where they are you may never find them.

Hi
I'm not sure if its right to ask this but I was wondering if it was likely that CD will be publishing the rest of the trilogy as limited editions? I know Fuse has been out for a while so I just thought I'd check. Please feel free to let me know if I shouldnt be asking this before any announcements have been made.
