They're actually not for sale yet. We're having The Influence Lettered Edition bound in this same style and after those ship, we'll offer The Revelation Lettered Edition for sale.

After this big batch ships, there are a few other stragglers from last year that will arrive this summer, but from that point on, these new Lettered Editions will ship at the same time as the Limited Editions.

Thanks! We're working really hard to make them different and special. One of our authors once said to us, "What's the deal with the Lettered Editions? They're just a book in a box." We're trying to make them a lot more than that... and deliver them in a much more timely fashion!

I didn't see any of the info about changing book designs and dropping the cases until I got a couple in the mail.
Imagine my surprise.
Will CD please make some appropriately sized slip cases at least, so these gems will have a bit of protection.
If they are going to be done in batches of similarly sized books, some leather slipcases as an option would be wonderful.
You can put the slipcases in the slip case portion of the ordering page if you dont want to add to the cost of each book...strictly optional.

Dont get me wrong...I like the newly redesigned book. Would like an extra bit of protection for that 175 dollar book.

I will miss the traycases though, I've been adding pretty heavily to the lettered collection over the last couple years since Delirium turned into a peckerhead.

I'm happy to discuss ideas for the Lettered Editions.

Just so we can get a feel of what you're interested in, would you be willing to pay $55 to $90 for each book's case? That's about what they would cost if we made optional cases because each book is individually sized. We don't have a "stock" book size or template we use, so any add-on cases would need to be custom-made. (Every now and then different books end up at the same size by pure luck, but we couldn't just make a stock case.) The cases would need to be made project by project and an awful lot of our cost per project is set-up fees and plate production, which is spread across the run, so a small run costs a lot per unit but a larger run spreads the burden of those fees quite a bit. These cases would end up being pretty expensive. But if there are 20+ people who want them for each book, and are willing to pay $55 to $90 for the case, we can certainly look into it.

One other thing: the wait for the cases would be quite a long time because the same guy who makes our low run slipcases makes our Lettered Edition traycases. Our bigger vendor for cases, the one who makes our Stephen King cases, couldn't handle this kind of small run work. It would be insanely expensive for them to do these jobs. So we'd have to add these to the work list for our guy who makes our low run cases and they would be in line with the traycases he still needs to make for us.

By the way, we are keeping traycases for the more expensive editions and the books in an exciting series that had traycases already, so for the collectors who really love the "book in a box" concept, there will be those books available.

Thanks for the info in regards to the slipcases for the lettered editions. I'm torn about their inclusion or not. On one hand, I'd love something to protect the books as they are beautiful, but adding close to another hundred dollars (on the high end) to already high-priced books makes me hesitate.

I will say that I LOVE the new style and might actually prefer them over their traycased brethren. They look so good that it makes me want to buy everything in a lettered state.

Yeah, we've spent the last couple of years looking at this from every direction. We talked about somehow making slipcases work, too. The problem with adding slipcases is that, to make them as NICE as you'd want them to be for these books, it'll be expensive due to the low runs. We could get cheap cardboard cases made for about $25 a pop, but they wouldn't be as nice as the books and they wouldn't be a good representation of what we tried to do with these editions. So it's a tough one...
