John: A superb edition. Like many, I'm rereading THE SHINING, because I'm getting DOCTOR SLEEP for Xmas. I'd nearly forgotten how genuinely frightening TS is. I notice you're in Cleveland. I spent my first 34 years living in, and nearby, Solon.

Can't say it is frightening to me, but I knew a woman who mentioned she had to put that book in her freezer when she read it, lol! She knew it didn't make sense, but if a book got her scared she felt better when she would put in the freezer.

I read it a 15. Scared the bejeezus outta me. But I never thought to do anything like that. However, I like that as a tribute to Kubrik's fim (with the Overlook freeezing instead of burning.)

In an episode of Friends, the character Joey gets scared and puts the copy of The Shining he had borrowed in the freezer. The trend for doing that with the book probably started with this show.

I'm very happy that they reversed the author and title for the final edition. The oversized 'KING' and condensed 'Shining' just doesn't look good.

Didn't realize they had done that, it does look better.

Bill has a limited number of all editions available. I just snagged a gift edition myself.
