    "Gwendy's Task"

I watched a video on Mr. Chizmar's YouTube channel where he discussed printing delays on the new book. That led me to another video where he discussed how he had three editors on the previous book in the series. He mentioned, obviously, some stuff about the nuts/bolts process.

I was curious - does Stephen King, Mr. Chizmar, or any author, actually have to re-read every word they wrote as part of the process? Would seem to be a big time-diverter. As Mr. Chizmar said in the video, at some point he was getting sick of the whole process and just wanted the third editor to take a look and be done with it (then he said he appreciated it the effort and liked the changes). Can authors ever say, here's the book, edit how you see fit (just for spelling/etc.) but leave everything else in, all the creative choices (and of course check for legal issues, etc., stuff like that), or are they contractually obligated to read everything again and then approve it?

Looking forward to the new book...
