Unfortunately it was worse then they first thought. He is in a burn ward and some of the second degree burns turned out to be third degree. I am very happy with how this campaign has gone to help him out. With no insurance this is going to help him with those medical bills.
On a side note if you have never read Keene before now is a great time to buy one of his books. He could use the royalty money.
And another side note. If you have never read J. F. Gonzales now is the time. All royalties from sales of his books for the summer are going to support Brian Keene as well.

Thanks for posting this. I have read and enjoyed Mr. Keene's writing but may search something I do not have. I have not read J. F. Gonzales but will find something to read!

I follow Brian on Twitter and I just found out he's been admitted to hospital with 1st and 2nd degree burns. No idea how it happened, but it hardly matters. What does matters is that he has a full and speedy recovery.

Apparently he was burning brush on his property and the wind shifted. Not sure of the specific details, but it sounds like one of those very unfortunate Things.

So glad to see the GoFundMe page for him making the rounds here and on Twitter, etc., with so many folks joining in to help a guy that's made a second career out of helping others (Scares That Care, mentoring, et al). Hopefully his recovery will be quick and comfortable.
