Hi. We function in a pre-order model. These books are still in fairly early production. I believe the plan is that they should be published this year. General production updates can be found on this page:

    http://www.cemeterydance.com/production-updates.html

Strange Weather is towards the bottom. Where the book currently stands is that the following "Artwork for THREE of the four books in this set have been completed, and we hope to have the remaining artwork in January or February. This title will be published in 2018." Sorry for any confusion, it can be kinda confusing for people new to the collectible book world. As always though if you are unhappy with the wait and would like to cancel your order just shoot an email over to [email protected] and we can get that taken care of for you.

Dan, did the art issue get resolved, and is this book still scheduled for a 2018 release? Thanks.

I'm not sure. Brian will have to clarify. My guess is that with all of our printer / case maker problems this year that it'll have to be pushed back, but I'm not sure. I'll direct Brian here to see if he can clarify.

The fourth artist is still behind schedule, but he's worth waiting for. We really cannot say more about his situation because it's a personal matter.

I will do a full revision of the Production Updates page this month, though.

              STRANGE WEATHER update:

The interiors of all four volumes are designed and being proofread now, but that process is basically done.

The signature sheets are being printed now (we needed the artwork for the sheets to finish them) and the sheets will be circulating among the author and the artists as soon as possible. The timing will vary based on their schedules. Once we have a better idea of when each artist will be done signing their sheets, we'll be able to figure out when this is going to the printer.

              Thank you for your patience!

                UPDATE:
The signature sheets are circulating. One sheet is done, three to go. Two of the artists are signing now. The sheet that Joe will be signing is headed to the artist to sign first since his office is outside of the country, and the artist has made time in his very busy schedule to sign them in August. The interiors of all four volumes are designed and being proofread now, but that process is basically done!

This one is still being held up by one of the artists who hasn't signed the signature sheets yet. According to Brian, he's had them for 14 months and still nothing.

                      Pretty ridiculous and very unprofessional.

To be fair the single artist wasn't the only hold up, just the most recent one. Sig sheets were also held up in Chille for 6 months due to national unrest, and were also held up waiting for an opening in Joe's schedule for awhile too. This is just the current delay.

If I haven't done something in 14 months (or longer, if my memory serves correctly) that needs doing, I think it's pretty clear I have absolutely no intention of doing it, for whatever reason. I would suggest again that CD move on with what they have -- and with what it sure seems to me they're going to get -- and release the book without that artist's signature. But I suggested this before in this (?) thread and most disagreed that that was the correct route, so looks like we'll continue to wait, moving into a fourth year in September of this year (pre-ordered 9/25/2017). It's really unfortunate when things like that happen, whether they're in CD's control or not, because -- at least for me -- the anticipation for a release turns progressively into annoyance as time wears on and on, and rather than excitement upon delivery the prevailing emotion is simply relief.

It's largely a catch 22. If you wait people are mad, if you release it without the promised signature people are mad. Ultimately we would prefer to provide the product as it was originally promised, and with the way this set is laid out with 4 different books, it really wouldn't make much sense to have one of the books not have a signature sheet in them.

In this case, more people are pissed about the wait.
I think customers will be happier to have three signed volumes (containing four signatures! Including Hill's) and one unsigned volume if it means the wait is over and this one artist is no longer holding ~1000 customers hostage. I think we're all aware of the story and who's to blame and if customers cancel their orders over one missing signature from a stubborn artist, then I'm sure CD will have no problem selling those copies to other Hill fans. I seriously doubt this artist is more important than Joe Hill and he's found the time to sign. Really, at this point, that artist's signature is an insult. I don't even want it. Unless the signature sheet comes with an apology from the artist. I'd rather have a blank line.
