I haven't run across much analysis of that particular pulp niche, but I do have one that might be along the line of what you're looking for...
UNCOVERED, The Hidden Art of the Girlie Pulps, by Douglas Ellis. Adventure House, 2003, oversized HC. It's a fantastic collection, though text/history does take a fairly sizeable backseat to the full-color art...not a bad thing and there is some history included, but do be aware it's more an art book than a history analysis of this pulp niche.
